How does a water ioniser work?
Connecting directly to your tap, a water ioniser uses a two step process. The first task is to filter out harmful components of the water: chlorine, trihalomethanes, phenols, sediment, odor, taste, organic waste, and bacteria of all kinds. The Jupiter achieves this by the use of a multistage activated carbon filter containing tourmaline and coral calcium. Next, a small electrical charge is introduced into the water through platinum-coated titanium electrodes. The process of electrolysis that follows takes place in a patented chamber designed to separate the water into two streams of ionised water:
- Positively charged ions gather at the negative electrode to create “reduced water”, which concentrates available alkaline minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and potassium from the source water. This alkaline ionised water is drawn for drinking and cooking, through the main stainless steel spout.

- Negatively charged ions gather at the positive electrode to make “oxidized” water, which concentrates acid minerals such as nitrates, sulfides, chlorides, and fluorides from the source water. This acid ionised water has a myriad of external uses. It is discharged into the sink.

A range of pH settings from neutral to very alkaline or very acid is available at the touch of a button. The electrodes are cleaned in an automatic cleaning cycle.
How do I install a Jupiter Water ioniser ?
Jupiter Water Ionisers come with an adapter that attaches to your sink tap. This will allow you to still use your sink as you always do and divert the water into the Water Ioniser when you want to. It also comes with a 2.9 length of tubing that should be cut into two pieces.
The second piece of hose fits into the OUTLET fitting on the right as you look at the unit from the front, with a spring clip provided, at the back and at the bottom of the Water Ioniser and then drapes into the sink.
This is the tube that acid water will run out of. Water Ionisers always produce both alkaline and acid water simultaneously. The ratio is 70% Alkaline water to 30% Acid water that is produced by the Water Ioniser as it is running. The unit is best situated on top of the work surface, a window ledge close by or can be wall mounted
Will I need a plumber ?
No, this can be done by the average person who has little or no plumbing experience. If your not sure after reading below then a plumber may be necessary. |

How long will it take to install ?
Usually about 10 minutes for a straight forward setting / fitting with the diverter or onto an existing water tap.
If you are fitting a separate water tap (UK), then it will take around 3/4 of an hour.
Is the Ionised Water better than my existing filtered water ?
Yes it is because of its anti-oxidant properties and alkaline hydration capabilities that no other system other than an Ioniser has capabilities of producing.
What Filters do the Jupiter Ionisers have?
They contain either the NEW Standard Biostone Water Filter -- 0.1 micron water filtration or the NEW Ultrafine Biostone Water Filter. This Biostone filter represents the state of the art in water filtration today. Hollow fiber filtration --the same technology used in kidney dialysis -- removes the finest particles, down to 0.01 microns. This is the finest domestic filter available. We recommend this filter for where there are hyper-allergenic issues, and in all cases where there are concerns about contamination.

What do I get with the more expensive models?
In the UK the water supply can vary a lot county to county. Because of this difference in source water, different ionisers at the same alkaline settings will produce different alkaline levels.
Now in the new Jupiter Aquarius and Orion there is a patented SOL valve and triple diaphragms that adjusts the water flow automatically. This means that you now get the correct pH level no matter what your input water is, or if there is a change in your water pressure or flow rate
These more expensive units include the patented DARC (double action reverse cleaning) system. This feature completely removes any scale from the electronic cell helping to make sure your ioniser stays in top working condition.
What is so unique about Water ionisers?
The Water Ionization Filter is far, far more than just a filter. Initially, the filter functions effectively using silver activated granulated carbon to purify incoming water, just like 99% of household filter systems.

So why is tourmaline in the Biostone Filter?
Tourmaline has the unique property of emitting a natural form of FIR or Far Infra Red energy. The prefix 'infra' means 'below' and refers to the wavelengths that are just below the red end of the visible spectrum, hence 'infra-red'. FIR produces a form of radiant heat which is simply a form of energy that heats an object directly, without having to heat the surrounding air. The radiant properties of Infra-red occupies the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum between visible light and radio waves. There are many, many health products that employ FIR, including many water products. Water can absorb infrared rays from an external source. This phenomenon is called "resonant absorption." This absorbtion of the electromagnetic frequencies of FIR has an immediate and unique effect on the water, energizing the water, reducing surface tension and “conditioning” it prior to ionization.

How do I change the filter?
Open the front, grab the filter, press down a little, and pull it out. Run the system for a few minutes to clear away any loose charcoal

How long does the Jupiter ioniser filter last?
It depends on the quality of your water source and how much chlorine it contains. The amount of chlorine it contains can easily be determined by a call to your local water company and asking. For instance, if the level of chlorine is between .4 and 1.0 PPM (mg/L), the filter should last about 12-18 months. If the chlorine level is above that, the filter will last about 9-12 months. There is a filter life indicator on the Jupiter Ioniser, which will provide you with some idea of when your filter should be replaced. However it simply records the volume of water that has run through the Jupiter ioniser and does not measure the amount of chlorine in the water.

What can I use the acid water for?
The acid water is a 'free' bonus. It is excellent for all manner of skin complaint. We use it as an astringent face wash last thing at night, we fill the fountain with it and at last the fountain doesn't go green in 3 days, it's excellent for hair care, acne, sores, bench top sterilization and more. Hardly a week passes without a call from a client who has found a new use for it.
We collect it in the sink and after rinsing our dishes we dip them into the acid water to sterilize them before putting them away.
We also put it onto our pot plants because it closely resembles rainwater

How do I get my ordinary tap water once it's attached?
The diverter has a lever which swaps your water flow from tap water outlet to Jupiter outlet. It has an incorporated aerator for your tap water.

Why can't I just drink water?
You certainly can, but if you're like us, you have never really got into the water habit because it was too much like a lead balloon. ionised water from water ionisers is light water. It has a smaller molecular cluster and we can drink it all day.
You CAN just drink water and you will harvest some of the benefits we speak of, but it still can't penetrate your cells like alkaline, ionised water, and this is why ionised water with its bounty of negative oxygen ions is able to rid you of acid wastes in the cells. It can go where ordinary water cannot, and it has the ammunition to neutralise free radicals, the cause of cancer and aging. This is also the fundamental difference between water ionisers and so-called bottled anti-aging water. This water is 'live'.

Does the Jupiter ioniser have any features that the other Water ionisers on the market don't have?
The Jupiter ionisers uses MICOM Digital Technology, while most other Water ionisers on the market use the old analog technology. With MICOM, the unit has the ability to self-clean for thirty seconds for every ten minutes of use. This helps extend the life of the electrodes and therefore the life of the Water ioniser. It also can sense that hot water is being put through the unit and automatically shuts off. (Hot water would burn out the electrodes). This protection and the self-cleaning mechanism of MICOM helps extend the life of the Water ioniser dramatically.

Do Water ionisers remove fluoride from tap water?
Some companies claim that all the fluoride in tap water is removed with the use of Water ionisers. This is not entirely true. A Water ioniser will send about half the amount of fluoride found in city water down the acid tube, thus cutting the amount of fluoride you drink in your water by about one-half. Water ionisers do NOT entirely remove fluoride from the water, whether it has been added to the water or is already there naturally as with the case of a well.
How do I know when the filter needs replacing?
An LED indicator on the front panel gives an approximate indication of remaining filter life. Generally the standard Biostone filter lasts 8-12 months and the Ultrafine Biostone filter lasts 6-8 months. But this depends on the source of water and the amount of use. For example, if your tap water contains between 0.4 and 1.0 ppm (parts per million) of chlorine, a filter can last 12-16 months for one person's use. If greater than 1.0 ppm, the filter may last 9-12 months. A family of three on a typical North American water supply will use a filter every 12 months.
If you smell or taste chlorine in your water after it passes through the ioniser, change your filter. If you find that the flow rate through your filter has decreased, it’s probably full of particles and now needs replacing.
By changing your filter at regular intervals, you are assured of the inner hygiene of the filter.
