first of all, I would like to ask whether fish is allowed on the alkaline diet. is it? if not, how does one get vitamin b12 without taking supplements? also, how does one get vitamin d (since dairy is not allowed)?
Hi Jonas,
I have just answered your questions with regards to the consumption of fish in the other part of the forum. Basically fesh fish, especially oily fish, is a very good transition food as it is rich in healthy omega-3 oils and can be consumed occasionally in the context of a healthy balanced diet.
With regards to the vitamins you mentioned, Dr. Young states in his bestselling book ' The pH Miracle: Balance your diet, reclaim your health book' that vegetables, and particularly green vegetables, are incredibly nutrient- dense and provide you with just about all the vitamins and minerals that your boody needs.
A good natural alkalising supplement to take are the "green drinks" which also contain Vitamin D and B12.
Apart from this Dr Young says that your optimum diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% of acidifying foods. Hence the occasional dairy product and fish could be part of the 20% of acidifying foods.
Hope this helps :0).

Hey Jonas
The best form of vitamin d is the sun! Oily fish is also great in moderation, as bibi says.
Dairy is not really that much of an option as Vitamin d is actually added to milk - it is not naturally occuring.
Hope this helps
