Default Budwig Mixture

Hi,
In the past I've tried the Budwig protocol. This worked wonders for my diabetes, and I'm considering combining it with the Alkaline Diet.

The Budwig mixture I was making consisted of:

3 tablespoons of Flaxseed oil
6 tablespoons of Quark
2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt
4 tablspoons of frozen raspberries
Some water

All combined to make about 750ml drink.

Could I include one of these per day and still stay alkaline? Dr. Johanna Budwig was well aware of the benefits of alkalinity - but I'd lke to know what effect drinking one of these "shakes" per day (probably around 9pm) would have during the Liquid Feast phase of an Alkalising diet.

I'd probably be having a green drink for breakfast, a thick raw vegetable soup for lunch, and an even thicker raw veg soup for dinner. Between meals I'd be drinking lots of water and celtic sea salt, and green drink...

Hey

Well...I'm never going to discourage the use of flax, but quark, yoghurt and raspberries are not so alkaline, in fact they're pretty acid-forming, so I'm not sure I'd truly recommend that.

I can't comment on whether this is specifically good for diabetes or not, but these alkaline shakes with flax would be pretty good. Maybe you could alternate those with your Budwig mix?

Hope this helps!

Now - what makes this interesting, is that combining the flax oil with quark, actaully makes the flaxseed oil water soluable. Which means the body can use more of it.

This is down the the sulphur content in the Quark.

Taking flax oil alone does not give the same benefit, as not all of the flax you take in is absorbed. Making it water soluable, means ALL of the flax oil is taken up and used by your cells.

I'd hoped that Dr. Budwig was well known in the Alkaline diet community. She knows about the benefits of alkalinity - so I'd hoped it was a 2-way relationship. I'd advise reading up on Johanna Budwig to everybody.

I've read some of Dr Budwig's work and Udo Erasmus references her a little in Fats That Heal, Fats That Kill.

The water soluble issue is an interesting one and I will definitely do more research on this...
