Default When do I start with the Juicing?

Much has been made of the importance of juicing on the alkaline lifestyle course which is great.

I am only on week one right now and no juices are appearing on the weekly food chart. Am I to expect to see some coming into play in later weeks?

I'm not going to wait until later to start juicing anyway, but I was just curious as I had expected to see some right from the outset.

Hey

Great question and I'm glad to see you're keen! The juices don't start right away because I built the course as a very gentle transition to begin with - fresh vegetable juices will have put a lot of people off if they're included right up in the first week. You'll get your first juices in week two (on the sunday) - but go for it if you want to juice now!

Right, thanks for that Ross.

I only have a centrifugal juicer at the moment which I know isn't ideal, but I figure that many of the nutrients should survive the process despite the loss associated with this method, making this better than nothing at the moment. I am ready to stand corrected on this though if my thinking is flawed.

After a while I'll invest in a more suitable machine as outlined elsewhere in the forums.

Thanks again.

Hi there,

You are absolutely right - making fresh juices with a centrifugal juicer is still much better and healthier than buying concentrated juices from the supermarket.

We generally recommend masticating juicers over centrifugal ones as they are better in preserving the nutrients than centrifugal ones. This is due to the fact that they turn slowly and squash out the juice from your produce.

Especially if you want to juice wheatgrass or other leafy greens than you will need to use a masticating juicer.

Otherwise it is much better than using a centrifugal juicer than no juicer at all, especially if it is a decent one.

Regards

Bibi
