Default Sodium Bicarbonate

Hi

Can you mix sodium bicarbonate in water every day to alkalize your body? I don't see why this would not work?

Thank You

Hi Jack

You can do this. Dr. Young actually recommends mixing sodium bicarb and potassium bicarb with water in his book. I believe the amount he recommends is one half a teaspoon of each into every litre of water.

I'm not sure on the exact amount but if I ever mix sodium bicarb in I just stick in a teaspoon per litre.

Hi guys

I've been asked this a lot because obviously shop bought bicarb is cheaper than the pHour Salts. In search of a definitive answer, I spoke to Dr Young and he advised that he created pHour Salts because shop bought bicarbs 99% of the time contain anti-caking agents and aluminium, both of which are highly acidic and toxic.

The pHour Salts also obviously has four salts - including sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium. I'm of the belief that your body needs a range of alkaline substances and each do have different roles, so it is good to get the different salts.

Hope this helps!

Ross

hi pakbull

put most simply - your body produces acid (mostly hydrochloric) on demand, so when it needs it - it makes it. you don't need to worry about not consuming enough acids.

let me know if this doesn't make sense or if you need more of an explanation

Dr Young states this about becoming too alkaline: "It's almost impossible to become too alkaline. If you are living, breathing, thinking and eating, then you are producing acids that can and will affect your health, fitness and vitality. Everyday the body produces more acids then the body can keep up with. That is why we age. Aging is actually a fermenting and acidic process. The body has an alkaline buffering system which helps to maintain alkalinity, but when this becomes compromised from an over acidic lifestyle and diet, you start having the symptoms of dis-ease and disease caused by metabolic acidic waste products. So, absolutely you should attempt to increase alkalinity to prevent and/or reverse dis-ease and disease."

Default Another question on pHour salts

Can someone with Epilepsy take the pHfour salts? Apparently, this individual, on medfication for its control, is sensitive to calcium - too much can contribute to a seizure.

If you are in any doubt always check with a doctor and/or spe******t, especially if you have an existing condition. We recommend that you always check with a doctor before making any changes or taking any supplements.
