Thank you for all the informations,I will tray heard to do my best.So that my ph and oxidations levels change, I’m vegan and I’ll will drink more water. God bless you.
Evelyn
Hello fantastic information. I have a family history of heart disease and cancer. Finding it so hard to lose weight and live healthy. Your videos are giving me some guidance. My question is because there is so much information where do I start? I want to lose 20 kgs. I want to live healthy and want to eat the right foods. I want to live right. So where do I start?
Thanks for all you help
Dan
Hey thankyou -heaps of effort and lots of great info – really scary about the ph and oxidation levels- can’t figure whats worse – dehydration or full hydration with bad water!!
thank you that was a great video
No worries Anisa! Glad you liked it!
Thanks. I have usually been pretty good at drinking 3 litres of water a day, but have found it is also easy to “fall off” the routine. Today’s video is just what I needed to get back on track!
It can be so easy to just…well…forget! Glad I’ve been able to help.
I’m extremely busy and so far the only step I’ve taken is to add lemon to my water and increase my water intake. Can you quickly recommend the cheapest and most effective way to make sure I get the quality of water I need?
Hi Carol
Honestly, the best thing you can do is watch the video coming on Tuesday – this gives you all of this in lots and lots of depth!
Ross
I really thank you to share this information,
After 5 years of having colon cancer, 7 operations, including 2 in the brain I arrived to the same conclusion about water, , i have been following my ph since i got the cancer and even before.. my blood ph when i got the cancer was 6. after with all the chimios(nearly 96 in tota)l and nearly 50 radiation on the last 5 years.. during this fight, i always had the ph at 7.32
the problem is how to increase the water ph and make the orp negative?.what is the best method to alkalinize and antioxidaze the water?
what i also have learned is that to kill a cancer cell, you need to get water at nearly ph 9 ? is this true?
another question, when i put lemon to the water, the ph went to 6.5.. i understand the effect of the lemon to be alkalinize in the stomach, isn’t it better to get the lemmon alone and then water with sodium bicarbonate that increase the ph level to nearly 8.5
Hi Percy
The best method, truly, is to get a water ionizer and I honestly cannot recommend the Chanson brand highly enough. I can’t legally link this to any form of medically diagnosed condition, however, I do assure you with absolute confidence that it creates pH 9.5 highly antioxidant rich water on tap.
Ross
Hi Ross,
I really liked this video and the personal touch you add. Thank you for reminding me the 80%-20%rule, I tend to be hard on myself about this stuff. Are you planning on going back to answer questions on the first video…I think there are more there, mine included…yikes you must be such a busy guy! I have been drinking double my water the last 2 days and really feel the positive effects. Such an important reminder. I made a yogi tea with cloves, ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, and rooibos..I wanted to make sure this was alkaline because it is soooo good!
Thanks again,
Christine
Hey Christine
It definitely is alkaline and yep – sounds delicious!
Ross
Hi Ross,
Many thanks for the video, I am very grateful for your knowledge and insight in healthy water.
I drink more than enough water for my weight and have no probs getting water into me, actually I find it a delight.
My question to you is can I purchase the alkaline testing strips and the device to test to see if my water is +ve or -ve through ‘vitality for life’ in Australian $ ? I know you live in Melb. but your web site is UK based, do you have an Aussie website to purchase these products, it just seems silly to purchase something so far away when I may be able to get it local, I am also interested in a filter for the whole house, any suggestions?
I have a few other questions but will just start with this one.
Many thanks Christie x
Hey Christine – I’m aiming to keep the commence commerce-free, so I’ll drop you an email!
Thanks
Ross
Hi Ross
Wow! Arnt you a special piece of heaven? I was only discussing lack of luste with my girlfriend today and making the ageing process the prime suspect. Your amazing, your humble and truly want better people in this world. Thank you for encouraging me to be a better me. Off to buy some lemons …..
Thanks so much Jonene! You made my day!
Hello;
Can you reccommend an alkaline drop to use in your water.
Thanks Sandra
Hi Sandra
I recommend pH Miracle Activator and pHion pH Booster. Note these don’t of course give filtration or ORP benefits.
Thanks
Ross
I have always understood the importance of drinking water and enjoy your wonderful tips but what about someone who has Diabetes Type 2 and taking a diuretic? It seems that I am in the bathroom throughout the day at work with just drinking my 6-8 glasses — but now if I add more water to my day will it not increase this activity even more? Also, wouldn’t drinking so water much flush out good things like potassium?
Thanks
Janet
Hi Janet
I see where you’re coming from but drinking more water will get your body more properly hydrated and the more you do this the more your body retains and uses the water rather than have it pass right through. The analogy I give is of a sponge. When the sponge is dehydrated and you first begin pouring water on it the water runs right off, but the more you do this, bit-by-bit more and more get absorbed and used and the sponge is able to hold more water. The same goes for your body. I assure you, after a few days even, of drinking more you’ll find yourself going to the toilet a lot less.
As for washing out minerals, this is entirely incorrect. I am not sure where that myth came from but it is outrageously false. Being dehydrated, in fact, will cause the body to be acidic and needing to draw out minerals like potassium, magnesium from muscle tissue and calcium from bones to buffer the acidity caused by the lack of hydration.
I assure you – drinking 3-4 litres of water per day will do wonders for your health.
Ross
Congratulations on your efforts and endeavour to educate – it is really fantastic !!!
May I ask one simple thing – is there any influence on the level of Ph in urine ?
I’m asking you due to my personal problem having hyperuricaemia.
You reply is highly apprecaited
Thanks and regards,Ilia
Hi Illia
Absolutely – 100%. There is lots of research now being done in this field. The urine is one of the body’s best ways of getting toxins out and if we eat an acidic diet then the urine pH will be very low.
See here: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/15257770.2011.596498
The researchers compared the result of using an alkaline diet vs an acidic diet on hyperuricaemia and found the alkaline diet was very beneficial.
Note the conclusion from the research: “Taken together, we tentatively conclude that dietary intervention may well be the safest and the most economical way for the prevention of hyperuricemia
Ross
hi ya ross i take doc brocs in one litre of water daily im 17.5st so id need the 6litres per day, will 5litres of water plus my litre of water wit my doc brocs make up my 6litres also take phour salts by dr young
Hi Mark
I’d stick to 5 litres and the Doc Broc can be included in this definitely.
Ross
THANKS FOR THE INFORMATIVE INFORMATION, IT JUST SHOWS HOW THE SIMPLE THINGS WE TAKE FOR GRANTED CAN MAKE SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE IN OUR LIVES. THANKS
Absolutely agree 100%
Hello Ross,
I also have tried many times to watch your No: 2 video at different times. It gets to you testing 1st glass then it stops. You can hear a few loud speaker noises in the background & a green screen & then you come back at end. I look forward to viewing 2&3
Coral
Hi. I have tried several times to watch this video, but it gets about a third of the way through and then just hangs, shows the loading symbol, but then nothing happens.
Do you have any suggestions how I can see it all the way through.
Many thanks
Hi Teresa
I host all of my videos with Amazon so there shouldn’t be problems…it might just be a case of trying another day. Maybe the Amazon server was overloaded?
Ross
I travel a lot, how to I get water in the 7.5+ ph range for weeks on end when away from an ionizer (getting one shortly)
I’m a professional golfer and have to drink whats on the tee, but outside of that what can I do.
I’ve tested tap water via ph strips and have also found the ph levels of claimed bottled water to be much lower then stated.
Fiji water is what I drink normally and I noticed that it also is acidic, I do add lemon when I can.
Amazing that agencies do nothing about claims, why not just say “drink water can cure cancer”
Stuart A
Hey Stuart
Believe me – if I said that I’d be closed down in a day, but yes, it’s frustrating that these bottled water companies are able to make claims based upon misleading and smoke and mirrors.
For on the go, I recommend the alkaline stick or pH Drops.
Thanks
Ross
I have a heart valve implant and am required to take blood thinners along with having seiziures. I want to know if this alkaline water will have any negative affect?
Hi Jody
You’d have to consult with your physician I’m afraid – which I know isn’t going to be ideal, but legally they are the only ones who can discuss your specific medical condition.
Ross
With a negatively charged (ionized water) does it stay in this “awesome” state for mins/days/weeks/forever ?
Hey again Stuart
This could be a further help to your earlier question:
pH – maintained for about 2 weeks
ORP – about 8 hours
Ross
Hi Ross,
Thanks great video.
i know you reccomend ph booster product.
i’e read that a correctly balanced electrolyte supplement and wearing crp magnet helps, have you come accross this and would welcome your comments.
best regards
Ivan
Hi Ivan
I recommend pHion’s pH Booster, and pH Miracle’s Activator & PuripHy.
Can you send me a link to the supplement and CRP product you mention?
Thanks
Ross
Hi there. I have heard that lemon stays acidic for people with a low metabolism. Could you please tell me more about it? Thanks!
Hi Caroline
People get too fixated on the lemon. If it doesn’t feel right for you there are a zillion other more alkaline foods out there
Ross
Ayurvedic doctors advice us to not to drink too much water. Allopathic doctors do the same. (Personally I follow ayurvedic doctors.) I donĀ“t exactly know why they say like this. Something important is lost from the body ….
How do you explain this? Shall I find out what is the lost thing?
Find out more and I can critique!
In the meantime, see how you feel on 2 litres per day compared to 4 litres per day
Ross
Ross: I am away from home and do not have the materials / books etc. available. My wife and I will install a PH Alkaline Water System on Aug.24. We understand the importance about drinking the appropriate water amount and quality.
My question is: How long before and after eating a mean should a person drink water?
From my research, drinking water approximately a half an hour before and two hours after a meal is recommended. This recommendation is from reliable several sources.
Rich
Hi Rich
To be honest, I’ve tried all the different combo’s and I’ve never really felt it’s made a difference. As long as you’re not crazy by drinking litres and litres just before or after, I don’t really think it’s a big deal. There are WAY more important things to master first.
Ross
Hi Ross!
This video is AWESOME! I’m very grateful for this website full of information! It was recommended to me at UPW:) Very professional & just what I need:)!
Ross, I have 2 questions:
1. I have no problem drinking 4 or 5 litres a day. Exercise makes a master;)
I weight 65kg, so I should be drinking 3,6l a day. I’m working out 5 times a week and drink additional 1,5l for the workout, so around 4-5,5l a day. Is there any limit to the water of which I should not exceed for my weight?
2. I’m currently experiencing 20-30% of energy loss having been on Alkaline Diet around 2 months now. I’m definitely getting my 4l a day. Do you think this could be ONLY because I’m drinking bottled water?
Great job & THANK YOU:)!
Hey Oliinka
Great that you heard at UPW! Which UPW was that?
You do have to have more water if you exercise, so stick with how you’re going now. Regarding the energy loss, you could experience this if you’re experiencing a detox as a result of being more alkaline now, but it wouldn’t last 2 months.
I’d like to get more info on what you’re eating each day. It is common for people to switch to an alkaline approach but eat WAY too little and not get any omega oils. As soon as they up their intake their energy goes nuts!
Get back to me with your daily diet.
Ross
I learned more about water, hydration and alkalizing from your one video, than I did from MANY websites I’ve been searching on. Looking forward to your next video.
Thank you!
Hi Kathleen
That’s awesome
Ross
Thank you so much for this vital information. How do I post this on my FB page? I want to share.
Hi Abraham – you can simply link to the URL at the top of the page – copy and paste that into your FB page.
Hi Ross
Am finding your videos so helpful, thanks for all the great information. Makes so much sense. Just a few questions that it would be great to get a response on (Sorry in advance for the length!:)).
1. Are there any scientific studies that demonstrate the benefits of drinking alkaline water that you could point me to?
2. Is there anywhere that this kind of water (ie naturally filtered, neg ORP, high pH) occurs naturally?
3. Here are a few criticisms of drinking alkaline water that i came across, would love your comment
a. “If you are using an ionizer to create alkaline water, the natural metals in your water will be concentrated to levels that are higher than in untreated water. This results in water that contains a level of metals and other constituents that is considered dangerous. Your ionizer moves anions into the water and removes cations. As a result of this process, anion fluoride concentration can be two to three times higher than normal levels in your tap water. Too much fluoride is dangerous and can have an adverse affect on your thyroid.” and
b. “Alkaline water produced by ionizers can upset your digestive system by raising the pH of your stomach. In reaction, your stomach will attempt to produce more hydrochloric acid to regulate the pH and make it more acidic. In some individuals, their ability to produce more acid is affected”
Thankyou!!
Hi Justine
LOTSA QUESTIONS
1. There are not any direct, longitudinal, double blind tested etc studies on alkaline water for human consumption I’m afraid. To get that study done would cost millions and would require the sponsorship of a company that would be able to then patent the findings and make commercial profits from it. It’s sadly the way of the world. It’s why you won’t find such studies on a LOT of natural health approaches (even things like acupuncture that are so widely accepted they are used in hospitals all over Europe).
2. This water occurs naturally in unpolluted springs, rivers, waterfalls etc – but finding this is hard. It’s certainly never going to be as convenient as from your ionizer tap! Ionizer’s are designed to replicate this perfect water in nature – no contaminants, an alkaline pH and the ORP/electrical charge that is produces in nature by the water crashing against rocks etc.
3. a) if you use an ionizer this is not the case. The ionizer filter removes any harmful metals, including fluoride. Your alternative is to drink water still containing fluoride and heavy metals.
3. b) the stomach produces HCl on demand. When you consume something acidic and heavy the stomach produces hydrochloric acid to digest it in large quantities. The body then needs to create alkaline bicarbonates to neutralise this acid. The body gets put under incredible distress producing these bicarbonates and pulls alkaline minerals from the bones and vital organs and if it can’t create enough, the acid toxins are stored in fat in the body to protect your organs and/or it comes back up (reflux). This is just the beginning of the problems caused by over-acidity in the body/digestive system. If we consume something alkaline, the stomach does not need to produce excessive HCl to neutralise it.
The myth that the stomach is this big never ending pool of harmless acid that is ‘attacked’ by alkalinity is ridiculous.
If the stomach preferred it when we ate acid foods and didn’t work well with alkaline foods then why are acid foods things like chocolate, sugar, cakes, pizza, chips, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, dairy, trans fats etc and alkaline foods are cucumber, spinach, kale, celery, tomato, lettuce, avocado, nuts, seeds, omega oils, vegetables, salads etc. If this were the case, surely we’d be healthier eating crap and unhealthy if we ate a diet of predominantly salads, vegetables and fresh foods?
Ross
thanks. i benefited a lots. talk to you soon
Thanks Thomas
What about natural spring water?
Natural spring water may be fine. You’d have to have it analysed to truly know as all sources are different.
Check it – if it has no contaminants (very hard in modern, industrialised nations), has a pH about 7.365 and an ORP of at least 0 then it’s great!
ROss
Hi Ross,
firstly thanks so much for your website and all your information! i have recently started trialling Alkaline water (bottled from Alkalife) to see if it really makes a difference as the alkalisers are so expensive. can you tell me if its okay to boil the alkaline water (for herbal teas) and whether i still need to filter it as it says it is bottled at source and flitered through the limestone. is this enough to take out the inpurities you mention?
thanks!
You’ll find that the various conditions of the tongue, ie cracks, fissures, swelling, red or magenta tongue, smooth areas where taste buds are gone, circles around outside all correspond to the various B vitamin deficiencies as well as other things. Dehydration is a way too simplified explanation and actually is misleading to people that you could actually help, now that you’ve brought the look and conditon of the tongue to your viewers attention. Please site your source of information about the tongue. MarjoenHealth.com tongue symptoms: The tongue disorder known as the geographic tongue may reflect digestive problems leading to poor absorption of niacin, pantethine, zinc etc. Geopraphic tongue and presentation of deep grooves or fissure, both can be reversed by supplementing folic acid and b-12 for a couple months. Iron deficiency can present as a smooth, pale, pink tongue. Niacinimide deficiency can result in changes to tongue membrane and muscles controlling tongue. Red, sore tongue, niacin deficiency. Pantethenic acid deficiency =enlarged “beefy” tongue. Tongue disorders can reflect a variety of nutritional deficiencies, especially deficiencies of the B-complex vitamins. Tongues with cracks and grooves=B-6 or B-12, inflamed, red tongue niacin, smooth purple tongue=riboflavin also whitish bordered erosions that appear and disappear over time on various parts of the tongue surface. These B vitamin deficiencies also correspond to digestive problems because of lack of B-complex vitamin absorption, which is also a major contributing cause of irritable bowel along with inability to produce digestive enzymes. Now you can add dehydration to the list of contributing factors. Your entusiasm and heart are in the right place, though.
Hi Taylor
I accept this is a simplistic suggestion, however, my aim here isn’t to provide a tongue analysis in this video (which would be a LONG video) it is to provide one simple way people can find if they’re dehydrated. A tongue coating IS a sure sign of dehydration. It is also suggestive of other problems such as candida. However, it IS a sign of chronic dehydration.
Allowing people a simple way to see if they are dehydrated is the aim here – NOT to diagnose what else could be wrong based on the analysis of the tongue.
Similarly, I believe your heart is in the right place with your comment – but this video was and is not intended to be about tongue analysis.
I will hyperlink your source though because you are right and people should be encouraged to read more about this: http://marjoenhealth.com
Thanks
Ross
Hi
The site http://marjoenhealth.com did not exist. I recommend this site in it’s place: http://www.calvindale.com/tongue.html
Thanks
Ross
The water I get in my appartment is already very rich in minerals because the water is from a Borewell > Because which I am told I have kidney stones > I am told by my Doctor >
If I consume Alkaline Water of pH 9.5 , will I be better off > by ionizing this Bore well Water ?
Or should I drink only R.O water since it is sans minerals ?
how do you make alkali water?
hi, im 270lbs at 10% bodyfat and im drinking 4 liters of water a day. I thought that was enough until i started watching your videos. How much water should i drink, i dont think i can suck down 7 liters a day acording to what you suggest, 1 liter per 40lbs of bodyweight. thanks, Joe
I have cancer and have herd that alkaline water is good to reduce the acid in the body which cancer loves. Is that also your findings? Also I have a low sodium diet is there anythis else than sodium bicarbonate I can use?
Can i drink alkaline water with meals? I heard we need the stomach to be acid in order to digest our food and the alkaline water causes the body to have to work harder to make the stomach acid again.
Hi Again Ross;
I bought some Alkaline drops and put it one (1) drop into 125 mm of filtered water. Prior to adding the drops, I checked the Ph and found it was 6.7. ( I have a Ph metre that has been calibrated, so I know it’s accurate) After adding the the drop, I checked the Ph of the water again, only to find that the Ph was the same???? I expected the Ph to rise, but it didn’t.
Did I do something wrong???
Regards
Karl
Hey Karl
You’d have to let me know the brand and contents of the drops.
Reply here and I can help some more
Thanks
Ross
Interesting video & info. I am a senior, and wondering will I sleep at all, or run to the bathroom most of the night if I drink that amount of water ?
Aarno
Hi Aarno
You have to build up and it also depends on the quality of the water. If you drink tap water it will take longer for your body to get used to it than if you drink ionized water. The reason for this is that the ionized water is better absorbed and so hydrates the body quicker rather than simply running through like the tap water.
It’s important to note that the more hydrated you get (over a period of days and weeks) the less you’ll need to pee all the time.
Thanks
Ross
Does drinking too much water not remove the minerals from one;s body and put stress on one’s kidneys?
Should we not just drink when we are thirsty unless we are taking psyllium or flax for constipation, doing any kind of detox or fighting a cold or flu
Hi Sharon
This is a myth that is unfounded. You’d have to drink such a ridiculous amount of water for it to actually affect your minerals this much that you’d probably have bigger problems!
If you drink only when you’re thirsty (and are able to effectively recognise the signs of thirst) then you’ll end up drinking between 2.5-4.5 litres per day anyway.
Ross
Oh and yes, you’re right – you should drink a little more when using psyllium
Hola Ross, I’m a Cancer Surviver and still don’t comprehend How I got it but vowing that IT wouldn’t come back–Just a few words of THANKS for ALL the GREAT info and research into Alkaline water–I have a Kangen Water Device which does all the 3 elements you’ve mentioned–I personally feel U R doing a Superb job in educating the public on Changing the ways & methods of maintaing a Healthy Body, Mind & Spirit–Keep up the Good Work–Thank You and continued success Sonnyjoe
Thanks Sonnyjoe! Congrats on your journey.

quick question Can alkalize my water adding celery juice and lemon at the same time, celerely has alot of electrones that has negative charge as well as the lemon? thank you for youe answer in advance.
Hi Elvin
This will certainly make the drink have a more alkaline effect on the body once consumed – absolutely.
Ross

Query – How to reduce the lime sensitivity effect on the teeth?
Hi George
Thanks for your commend
Positivity is indeed very alkalising!
With regards to the lime – do you mean the concern that it might errode the teeth? People often ask this but I’ve asked many dentists and they all say the same thing – that the acidity of the lemon or lime is nowhere near the acidity of fruit juice (concentrated), soft drinks, coffee, tea, mouthwash etc and so it’s only a concern if you drink it all day every day nonstop and never clean your teeth!
Remember – you should have lemon/lime water first thing in the morning but not all day (as mentioned in the video and the last video).
Ross
I love what I am hearing and look forward to the next video! What do you think about the artesian water in BPA free bottles? Also, I would like to see what a hydrated tongue looks like?
Thank you,
Kim
Ross I have 3 questions following video 2.
Should you drink water when the stomach is full of food?
Does green tea contribute to hydration or not?
I stop drinking fluids a few hours before bedtime so that a full bladder does not disturb my sleep during the night, so drinking water after brushing teeth in the evening is probably not a good idea. Will it be possible to still get enough during the day?
Thanks very much.
Hey Elise
1. it has way less of an effect than a lot of people think. Don’t drink LOADS as you’ll feel bloated, but you can still sip away ![]()
2. green tea giveth then taketh away. It hydrates at first but then the caffeine acts as a diuretic and you pee out more than you drank which dehydrates
3. that’s fine, it’s still easily managable.
If you get 1 litre of good quality water in between waking and 10am and another between 12 and 5 then you’ll have had 2 litres. If you also have 4 cups of herbal tea at 250ml then thats another litre giving you 3 of the 4. And then any random drinks you have after dinner and up until those few hours before bed will get you the 3-4 litres you need. Simple!
Ross
Hi
I read through the large number of comments that came in with this video #2.
Many of the commenters raised questions that I have, so reading through the comments, and your answers, is informative. Could you follow up on these two?
1. You are quite dismissive about using bottled concentrated lemon in the place of fresh lemons. I wonder if your view is based on prejudice for the non-processed and against the processed, or if there are actual facts that say that bottled lemon (which probably contains all the minerals of non-bottled lemon since the processing was not designed to remove minerals) is less effective?
3. If the minerals in lemon are the reason its acidity is converted to alakalinity in the body (thanks for that explanation), are there other “acidic” foods that function the same way?
2. I understand the general idea of drinking as much ph-balanced, high-ORP water as possible but is it reasonable to conclude that the water in milk also contributes to the total amount of water needed daily?
Austin
Vancouver
Hey Austin!
No probs mate, happy to help – great questions btw:
1. I am dismissive about concentrated lemon and it ‘could’ be better than my belief – I’m happy to be wrong. To be honest there could be a brand out there that have gone to the lengths and expense necessary to retain the nutrient content of the lemon. It is possible to do this with packaged liquids, definitely. However, my presumption over these brands is that their product is 99% of the time sold to flavour rather than for the nutrients of lemons – so I do doubt that they would package it in the much more expensive way that retains nutrients. Again, I’m happy to be proven wrong but I am going to still say, for now, go for fresh lemons.
2. there are a couple of other foods like this – grapefruit and tomato are the main ones. There are not many because the majority of high alkaline mineral foods do not contain yeast or sugar and the majority of sugary, yeast, alcohol, fermented foods do not contain high levels of alkaline minerals. Think of the acid foods most often consumed: fizzy drinks, sugar, fried foods, pizza, chips, meats, dairy, alcohol, breads, spreads, jams, coffee etc – these are waaaay acidic, not borderline – so even if they did contain some degree of alkaline mineral they would still be hella acidic.
3. I understand your logic here but unfortunately the highly acid-forming nature of milk definitely outweighs the benefit of the hydration from the milk. It’s the same as if you’d said can drinking lemonade contribute. You really don’t want to be drinking milk.
Cheers
Ross

I love the balsamic vinegar, i use a fair bit in my salad with olive oil, how acidic is that?
also, I drink some apple cider vinegar it helps a bit with my blood pressure… how is that
thanks so much
Marcel
by the way, i have been drinking water with lemon in it for quite a while now.
Hey Marcel
Balsamic and ACV are both acid forming, but for slightly different reasons. Balsamic is simply an acid that has an acidifying effect on the body. ACV is different in that the reason it is acid forming is because it is fermented. It’s a shame because it has some good health properties.
Ross
I am a cancer patient on an alternative therapy program including detoxing the body. How important is getting chlorine and flouride out of bath and shower water and if important do you have a recommendation how to make that happen ?
Hi Chester
You can remove fluoride and chlorine from your shower water using a filter like this: http://www.energiseforlife.com/item_chanson_spa_shower_filter_declorinating_SPAFILTER.html
Thanks

I’d generally have about 1/3 lemon per 500ml of water but really there is no hard and fast rule to this. I don’t think it’s too much of a problem, but scale it down if you feel you should
Hi Ross thanks for the great info I personaly start off with 2 glasses vegetable juice 1 litre of filtered rain water with 1 mug of oaten porridge 1 tablespoon honey 2 tablespoons flaxseeds, and a teaspoon of ground ginger.I realise the honey is with sugar but I am thinking the glucose value outweighs the fructose effect. Do you have any thoughts on this
cheers mate, geof
Hey Geof
If that’s your only vice you’re doing brilliantly.
Keep it up
Ross
Will lemon alkaline water
Yes, it makes the water have a more alkaline effect on the body once consumed.
Thanks
Ross
Ross, your helping allot of people keep it up. I have a Chanson Max and wanted to know if you think it filters water enough or do you think getting a higher level of filtration is a better way to go? thanks for your response.
Hello mate – glad you got your unit working – did you move out of your apartment block?
The C3 Pre-Filtration is optional, but if you’re concerned about the level of toxins in your water then it’s a pretty cheap way of guaranteeing you’re getting the best quality of water 24/7
Ross
Hi Ross, first thing I’d like to say is you are a wonderful person. I love your videos, they are fantastic! I drink lemon water every day, but I add lemon grass in it. Will this help to make the water more alkaline?
Hey Mary
Thanks so much! It will definitely make it more delicious! I can’t see it hurting, but it won’t have a HUGE effect either – but if it tastes great and ensures you’re getting more water it’s a good thing
Ross
Hi Ross,
Your videos are really wonderful. As of now, I am taking 2 liters of water, alkaline using alkaline sticks. From today onwards, have decided to have 4 + liters a day, including lime water. Let me know what else I can do. Currently, I have 4.7mm Kidney stones, one of my friend recommended to have lots of lime water.
please shed more light on this.
Once again, Sincere Thanks and looking forward to your 3rd video.
With Highest Regards,
Martin D’Souza
Hey Martin
If you check out my beginners guide to the alkaline diet here then you’ll get a lot more tips on other things you can do to get alkaline
Loved the video again! I can’t wait for the next, I just want to become more hydrated!
Hey Mike – the next vid is due in the next few days!
Ross
Hi Ross, just to let you know that I’ve just tried again and the video and the sound are both now O.K.Hoping the next video will show methods to reduce the ORP from positive to negative,as well as increasing the P.H to above 7.0 territory. Thanks for your time.Peter Arthur.
Hey Peter – it absolutely will and it’s coming in the next few hours!
Ross
Is Lemon Balm alkaline or acidic? I like to drink tea made with my fresh Lemon balm and fresh stevia from my garden and just want to know if this is good for me or not.
Sounds good to me!
Really enjoyed this video. Your tips for Remembering are great. That is the main block to a lot of us. Thank you again and looking forward to your next video.
Thanks so much!
Hi Ross,
thank you for your magnificent work.
My question is : is there any link between grey( white) hair and hydration?
Greetings from Portugal
Frederica
Hey Frederica
There certainly could be in many cases. Hair coloring can be affected by a lot of things but OVERALL alkalinity can help restore hair – see pics of Dr Young from 2000 and now – it’s crazy!
Ross
Thanks for videos and your website – so helpful. I know from tests that I am very acidic.
On your detailed list of acid foods you do not have chicken under Meat. You have eggs there though and eggs in Dairy& Eggs.
I can’t find green peppers and red, yellow and orange peppers. Would they all be alkaline ?
Thanks again for wonderful information Sue
Hey Sue
Chicken is def acid-forming. All capsicum/peppers are alkaline
Ross
Hi Ross,Many thanks for your very helpful comments in your second video, unfortunately only with sound-no video pictures came through on my computer! I don’t know why.Looking forward to your third video(hoping with pictures). It will be really helpful if you can demonstrate the various attributes of all the available methods including the basic water jug filter and how one can reduce the ORP in the water by the most economical method. It would also be most helpful if you can advise myself and many other people as to source most suitable P.H meter and ORP meter available.Regards Peter.
Hey Peter – it’s coming right up

Ross, thank you so much for your material on hydration, you have had more effect with you short video than many people telling me to drink more water over the years.
I will spread it via my blog and social media which is all about self empowering tools for health and learning difficulties and pass it onto the members of the International Association for Health and Learning.
Look forward to part 3
Hi Ross
Am 19 stones can you tell me how much water i have to drink a day and a kind of cheap water filter to use. I was 24 stones before but by trying to stay healthy i had loss 5 stones .As i came
across your information i know very useful.
Thanks a lot
Ruby
Hey Ruby – start at aiming for 2 litres per day and build up to 4. If you find after 2 weeks of 4 litres/day you’re still thirsty and able to drink more add another litre. Once your weight comes down you can reassess
Ross
Hi Ross, enjoyed the video, but have a suggestion. Opening up a video and not knowing how long it will be, or no forward/back available, is a big negative. Bet many others like to wind back when needing to revisit video to re-affirm a point. Regards, daniel
Hey Dan
Thanks for the feedback – will bear in mind.
Much appreciated
Ross
Hello Ross,
Thank you for the second video on water hydration. Your recommendations are very helpful. I am looking forward to your 3rd video. I hope that it will include information on the 1 ltr bottle that you sell. I can’t find your repy to my message as yet but will keep looking.
I am a little confused regarding the facilities provided by a distiller. What is an ioniser? Do all distillers include an ioniser. Or does a distiller ionise the water? I already
have a water distiller installed in my kitchen. The filters costs around 20.00. Is there any way that I can check if my water distiller is good? Unfortunately the water distiller that you recommend is very expensive for me at the moment and filters cost 70.00. How long will your water distiller last for? However I do appreciate that your water distiller is going to be a better quality and provide better water.
Bye
I would also like to ask if the weekly Energise Newsletter is available yet?
Hi Heather
Heh – ALL of this is answered in the new video!
Ross
Ross,
thanks for another great video, crucial stuff⦠and seeing and feeling the benefits already.
my energy in the gym, and general progress with anaerobic and aerobic are going in leaps and bounds.
look forward to hearing more. as i’m sure you’re aware in the fitness and health industry (especially bodybuilding) there is a great deal of misinformation and ‘grey areas’ in regards to nutrition and healthā¦
it is refreshing to hear from someone in the fitness/health industry that speaks the truth, with tried and tested approaches to good health.
acid crusher is a winner.
keep up the good work mate
Jake
Hey Jake
Thanks so much for the comment mate – it’s made my day – really appreciated.
There are now a LOT of bodybuilders and athletes turning to alkaline and ionized water.
Ross
p.s. checked out your site – very cool mate
Hi Ross!
I have a water distiller that I am currently using for my drinking and cooking water. After surfing the internet and reviewing your site, I realize the distilled water is inferior. What is your opinion of the Santevia countertop unit–I know it doesn’t remove all the contaminants–but what if I used the distilled water in the unit with the stones.
Will await your reply.
Thank you.
Cory
Hey Cory
This would definitely be an improvement as the alkaline stones would help to put some of the mineral content back into the water. It’s a bit inefficient to do both (distill and then use the jug) – and an ionizer would be a lot easier (and better performance) but I understand the predicament if you’ve already bought a distiller!
Cheers
Ross
Hi Ross
IĀ“m fan of the Chanson water – it is a fantastic machine, happy you recommend (:-)
Kind regards, Bettinna Delfs
Hi Ross Forgot to mention in my last comment – I test my saliva PH most mornings when I wake up. As I drink alkaline water throughout the night should I wait a couple of hours before testing my PH or it doesn’t matter. Just wanted to make sure I have an accurate reading. Thanks, Julie
Hi Ross,
Really enjoying your videos – they make so much sense. I was interested in your electronic PH meter you were using in this video, at the moment I use the PH strips which are fine but the electronic one looks great. Is there one that you may recommend or can I purchase that through Energise? Looking forward to the 3rd video. Kind regards, Julie
Hi there Ross…love your videos! thank you…
if you get a minute…would you mind letting me know what you think of the
Living Water Alkaline Water Ionizer by Vollara
thank you Ross!
nik
Hi Ross,
Liking the video have tried to live alkaline lifestyle after reading Dr.youngs book a few years ago, but never really managed to stick with it longterm. I dont have an ionizer and am really looking forward to your next video on how to improve the quality of water as I want to get started!
Natalie
Hi Ross,
I just remembered my second question
Is the sweetener Xylitol ok?
Hey, great recipes on tea and tonics, thanks.
Marcia
Hi Ross,
Thanks for all your great work! I been crying cause you didn’t answer my questions… Joking! My questions were:
Is the “Zero Water” filter decent?
I forgot the other one, can you believe? Need more hydration for sure, LOL.
Thanks, Marcia
Ross we have been using Swisse chlorophyll daily ,10 mls in 600 mls of tap water. It reads on the bottle that it is anti oxidant and alkalyzer. Should we trust this labelling. Thank you. We are living on the road and are about to purchase 2 times Alkapod portable water ionizer/ alkalizers thru Ebay at $82 each.Their sales video shows them testing Alkalinity change in the tap water used and also ORP. to very satisfactory levels. Good Health. Warren.
I want to do this diet but i dont want to be vegetarian what can i do??
Hi Ross – the videos on your site says they can’t be found. Can you send an email with the video link to my hotmail address please. rip_snort@hotmail.com
Cheers
Hi! We get our water from a well. I then use a Britta filter to filter the well water. Should I filter the water even more before using an ionizer? Which ionizer is best for well water?
Thanks!
Hi Ross,
A request.
My Internet comes through a copper wire.
It is just not possible to watch your video – for every word there is a 10 second pause.
We need either a pause on the video – so we can go away for an hour while it downloads – or a place where we can download the text.
Thanks, Bob
Hi Ross,
Is there a difference in countries that have cold or hot climates, regarding the amount of water a person needs?
It would seem to me that those in cold climates would need LESS water than those in hot climates.
What do you think?
Dear Sir:I am very grateful for your services and have some questions indeed!-Here they are-How do I increase PH in H2O? How do I decreaseORP? How do I make crappy tap water into good quality water? Please provide me with the quick easy inexpensive answers. Please also provide me with the more permanent costly answers.More than one answer on each please.Thank you very much, and please believe me when I say that I am truly grateful for your services. Thanks again for the information concerning this very important and basic issue.Tony.-
Hi Ross
Having trouble playing your videos
Thank you Ross for this video which includes a lot of helpfull information.
I used to drink distilled water for about 15 years when i learned distilled water is also acidic. So, i bought a ionizer machine a year ago which i love and i am drinking my 2 litres of alkaline water every day which is not enough as per your video. I am 71yrs old and i am full of energy i do exercise and i eat well. From now i will increase my amount of alkaline water to 4 liters.
This is my comment and not a question.
Bravo for your good work.
Gerard
Hi Ross-Thank you for the excellent tips. I have appreciated everything you send and have made available on the web. You have made this lifestyle manageable by breaking things down so simply. Blessings to you.
Chris
Hi Ross – just wanted to say a big thankyou for the videos, for putting so much energy into them. Its useful to have that calculation re the amount of water for each individual – I now know I need almost 3 litres instead of the 2 I have been aiming for each day. I still like drinking wine – which I know of course is de-hydrating -so when I do, I try to cancel out the effects of this by just simply upping the quantity of water I drink. Sorry if this sounds a bit obvious, but does hydration (re-hydration) work like that?
Cookie
Hello there! Just saying hi really. Liking everything so far. Ph balancing is going to be massive as the years go by so its great to find a website with up to date info. Currenlty in syndey on a holiday and notice how there’s so more better food choices such as raw food meals, veg smoothies. No wonder your’e here than uk.
Good luck on your continued alkaline journey and look forward to many more updates and tips.
Big thanks,
Ally
Hi, Ross, I am thinking about buying an ionizer with pre-filters, because purification is very important to me.
- Are there any labresults available ( independent lab) to see how the efficacy is from the filters ?
( The Chanson on its own , the Chanson with the pre-filters: C3 and the H20 Nano filtration system).
I would like to compare the results to make the right choice.
I read that the more expensive filter (Chanson H20 Nano-Filtration system )( 655 dollar=413 Br.Pound) only removes up to 75 % of the very harmful byproduct of chlorine ( VOC) .
and for ex. lead ,aluminium , pesticides and another harmful byproduct of chlorine ( THM) are only up to 85 % removed.
So how well do the C3 filters perform ? And the Chanson on its own ?
-Can you combine the Chanson ionizer with any other filter ( like for ex. Mercola filters ) or only the Chanson pre- filters?
Thank you so much,Ross
Hey again Bea! I remember your questions from my Q&A – glad you’re still with me and watching my videos!
> Lab Results: there are indirect lab results on the benefits of alkaline water, but Chanson have had independently tested
1) the effectivness of the pH 3 water to kill bacteria including ecoli and staph (incredible fast and effective) – http://www.chansonalkalinewater.com/pdfs/acid_water_report.pdf
2) the ability of the Chanson to ‘microcluster’ water – http://www.chansonalkalinewater.com/ionized_water_article/micro_cluster_test.php
3) the effectiveness of the filtration to remove toxins – not yet available online but I will email to you.
These results and certificates can be seen at http://chansonwater.com/why-chanson-water-and-chanson-certifications.htm (ISO 9001, NSF etc)
Here are some collated scientific studies: http://chansonwater.com/scientific-articles-index.php
> Lab Result Comparison: there have not been comparison studies between the Chanson products undertaken as yet, but its a good idea and I’ll look into it. The best result would really be the C3 and MAX or VS70 together. The C3 is the best in my opinion to use with an ionizer. The Nano and Ultra are great if used alone though (without an ionizer).
> Which Pre-Filter: C3, as mentioned above, is best in my opinion for use with an ionizer such as the MAX or VS70. There is no filter out there that will 100% remove everything and if it does it will make the water very acid-forming and have a +ORP. You don’t want this. The C3 removes 99% of chlorine and chloramines.
> Combine with other filters: yes this absolutely can be done, but bear in mind that if you use an RO filter you’ll need to buy a remineralisation cannister to sit beween the RO and the Chanson as the ionizer works by using the beneficial minerals that the RO strips out.
In all honesty I think you’d be delighted with a MAX and C3.
Thanks again Bea – I’ll put this into an email to you too!
Ross
My question is
why not just boil water, let it cool before drinking.
watching your video you said that the first thing you do in
the morning is drink from the tap
I’m not sure I follow your question?
Hi Jo
Boiling water will kill some bacterias, but it’s really just hot tap water. The ORP is still +ve, the heavy metals, toxins etc are still in there and the pH is the same as tap water (acidic).
The first thing I do in the morning is drink from my ionizer, not the tap.
Cheers
Ross
Hi Ross,
I was just reading some of your responses below, and you say that ph paper does not work to measure the ph of water (just works for bodily fluids). I was concerned that I was getting readings from our Santevia water system that were quite acidic and am relieved to find that this reading may be inaccurate. If the ph paper test isn’t accurate, how do I test the water, then? Do I need to buy a meter?
Thank you!
That’s the best way, yes – a digital pH meter.
I’ve been taking Arm & Hammer Baking soda for about a year now,,,along with Calcuim, Magnesium, and Potassium which I take for my PVC’s. My Alkaline range is usually always above ( 7 ) and I have been feeling fine. I know you have said, “You do not believe in using cristals to Alkalize water” but does it work and is there any side affects?
I have not gotten into the water filters YET because I’m living in China but I plan to find a good system that will give me the best possible water from this area.
I’ve been drinking Deep Well Water with a PPM of about 10 or 11.
Looking for a good PRP meter also.
What is your opinion regarding this method?
DocnChaos = TryDoc@aol.com
Hi Ross, really enjoyed your video thank you ![]()
We drink Alkaline water at home through a machine, the PH shows a level of 10 and the ORP is around -500.
Where can I buy a PH tester and the ORP tester like you used in the video?
Kind regards, Ruby
Hey Ruby
You can get both online – google “Oakton pH Testr” and “Milwaukee MV500 ORP Meter”
Thanks
Ross
Wait, but wouldn’t our lemon water also measure in the 5-6 acid pH range? And it is converted into an alkaline effect in the body?
Why doesn’t the body make acidy tap water into an alkaline effect, too?
You’re applying extremely fuzzy logic! Lemon becomes alkaline because of it’s high alkaline mineral content. Acidic tap water contains a lot of crap.
Ross
I am very interested in how I can make alkaline water.
Stay tuned for the next video!
Thanks so much for all of this information – most of all it makes sense. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2010 and am now cancer free. Because of this I have been researching alkaline vs. acid and found out that my body is very acidic. I fight it everyday. There is so much information on the internet that I quickly learned to follow practices that make sense to me.
The question I have is this: You keep saying that oxidizing is bad for you however, others say that getting enough oxigen into your system, as in deep breathing, is as important as anything else. Do yo have an answer for this as both makes sense to me?
There is a difference between oxygen and oxidization of cells. ‘oxidization of cells’ basically means ‘death of cells’.
They’re two wildly different things
hi Ross, really appreciate your video’s ,looking forward to your next video ,vital information, vital water! Have so many “complaints”,aged 65 worked with herbs and minerals and alkaline diets, so glad of this information, cheers! x
Sorry Ross – I was jumping ahead and trying to down load as I was listening.
Sandy Kash
I am unable to download the Hydration Cheat Sheet & Guide of the Tea & Tonic Recipes. I click on them and nothing happens. Can you perhaps email them to me? Thanks for all this wonderful information.
Cheers,

What happens to the alkaline water in your stomach,if your stomach ph is 4.0 and the water you drink is 9.5?
Ross… I am convinced to try to hydrate with alkaline water … however it seems that you or your helpers are somewhat skillfully avoiding the answer to my question … I do want to know what I am drinking and my question is simple and straight forward, WHAT IS THE CHEMICAL FORMULA OF THE pH DROPS THAT YOU ARE RECOMMENDING THAT I USE TO ADD TO MY FILTERED WATER? … Thank you for a straight forward answer…. Ed Ehlers
Doing my best to keep up with this…find it hard to get the water down…up to about 2-3 litres a day…thanks for all your advice….it has filled in so many gaps in ‘healthy living’ for me…can’t find any ‘alkaline water’ in bottles in the shops !!!
Hope I can report positive improvements in my health over the next months and years…
Cheers jane
what type of crystals improve your Alkaline level in water?
I don’t believe in the use of crystals for creating alkaline water.
Dear Ross,
1st Qustion:
I have, what was known as the Microwater ( Now owned by Chanson ) – ioniser, alkaline/acid machine that produced from 3.0 pH acid water up to 12 + pH water.
Please list and explain the improvements of the Chanson Miracle MAX?
2nd Question:
I also have your ION Jug which use to produce 9.2 pH a year and a half ago, yet now with new filtration charcoal and alkalising beads – does little better than 6.5 pH. I have activated the new alkalising beads with the citric crystals on two seoerate occasions.
I had replaced the jugs beads every 7 months.
Hey Richard
The addition to the Miracle MAX vs the Miracle include:
1) size – it’s a fair bit smaller
2) design – it looks a LOT nicer
3) the salt injection – which guarantees pH 3 and 12 no matter what your source water
It’s not an update I’d take if I owned the Miracle already, but given it’s the same price as a Miracle (original) if you were on the fence I’d get in at my offer price!
Regarding the Jug – how are you testing? pH Strips do not work on water – only bodily fluids, and a lot of people who ask me your question are using the ph strips.
Ross
Hi Ross,
PROTEIN: There is so much controversy around protein. On a daily basis how much protein do you recommend – can you give some relation to body weight?
WHEY PROTEIN POWDER: Is whey protein acid or alkaline? Is it o.k to have 2 – 3 times weekly?
Thank you. Janine L. Forbes
Hi Janine
Depends on if you’re exercising or not. If you’re undertaking a lot of weight-bearing/resistance exercise you’d need more than if you’re sedentary. The base level of protein needed is WAY lower than most people think – on average about 25-30g per day which is EASILY met by a varied (alkaline) diet. If you’re working out you can adapt to your needs.
WHEY is dairy and is acid forming. I’ve blogged about the alkaline diet and muscle here
Cheers
Ross
Dear Ross,
Great videos, and thanks for all the information. I have a super alkalising water filter (which also ionizes the water) which I bought a few years ago. I add lemon juice, and it seems to be doing the trick in terms of alkalising, along with my diet. I have a strange reaction to drinking water which I want to ask you about. I like to “down” it in half litre glasses, and that helps me to keep track of what I am drinking. I drink it lukewarm, but what can happen is that I get a loud heartlbeat pulse sound in my ears (shh..shhh..shhh) and can feel quite spaced out. for the next 15 to 20 minutes. It doesn’t feel too good Have you any idea what is happening physically? Thanks for all your enthusiasm and commitment, and for taking time to read my question. You must be a busy man!! Jonquil
Hi Jonquil
My concern is that you’ve not replaced the filters in these two years and that you have an ionizer that is not working optimally. Can you let me know more info about the brand and whether you’ve changed your filters?
Ross
I went to “Unleash the Power Within” event in Sydney this year in March. At the time of my attendance, I had some serious health issues. I had severe obsessive-compulsive disorder, major chronic fatigue, headaches and anxiety.
After the event, I removed what Tony Robbins calls the “4 poisons”; I gave up dairy products( I now drink rice milk). I gave up caffeine( this was really hard for me, b/c my parents had been giving me tea 3 times a day since I was 5 years old! I now drink no tea or coffee at all!). I gave up meat (I really like the taste of meat, but I value my health very strongly so I gave it up). And I gave up sugar.
With water intake, I used to drink (prior to the event) about 1-2 litres of water a day. I now drink 2-3 litres of water a day. I know that this is insufficient, and also I’m drinking bottled water and tap water, which in your video I watched, has a pH of about 6.3 which is acid forming.
So inspite of some big changes I made in my diet, although I have experienced some degree of an improvement in my overall wellness, I am still not experiencing the vitality I want to so dearly.
If I make the switch to alkaline water, do you think it would increase my energy levels? And is it absolutely necessary to get the Chanson Ionizer if you are a serious about improving your health?
I used to be a medical student, so fortunately I can think outside of the limited medical paradigm of mental illness; I used to see a psychiatrist – at the time I was taking 7 antidepressant tablets a day. I decided to stop going to him 4 years ago; I gradually reduced my dose down to 1 tablet.
My concern with this is b/c Tony Robbins says poison 4 are “acid addictions” – one of them he lists are prescription drugs which antidepressants are; do you think the 1 tablet antidepressant I am on is significantly acidifying to my body?
Last of all, I think you mentioned that you are in Melbourne; I live in Geelong which is about 1 hour away; I wanted to order some of the supplements that are advertised on the energiseforlife.com website. If I order them, how soon would they arrive; would they be shipped from Melbourne to Geelong or the UK to Geelong?
I was also interested in booking a health consultation with one of the guys advertised on your website; are you one of the guys that does the consultations?
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this message.
Amit
Hi Amit
Congrats on the progress you’ve made buddy! Awesome!
Did you see me at UPW? I was lurking around the Chanson and Hurom Juicer stalls
I can’t really comment on your medications, you need to speak to a qualified nutritionist or practitioner about that, but I will say that the ionized water would make an impact on your overall wellbeing, for sure. Drinking 2-3 litres is a great start and you know what, don’t sweat too much over the 4th litre…build up slowly. If you’re having 2-3 each day you’re most of the way there…
If you order Chanson products from us we’re able to ship out of Melbourne, but everything else is shipped from the UK. It’s totally fine, just takes 5-6 days.
Ross
Is Himalayan crystal salt (dissolved in water as sole) an alkalising agent?
Does it do the same job as bicarb?
What is your advice on this please?
Hi Sue
Sole contains a huge number of alkaline-forming minerals, all in small quantities. I think it’s a great addition in place of the bicarb or lemon water. I didn’t mention it in the video because I wanted to keep it simple and keep a clear distinction between different types of salt. This is Himalayan crystal salt (pink) not normal salt, sea salt or celtic salt.
The new Chanson Ionizer I show you in video 3 (out now, click on the link above this video) has a Himalayan Rock Salt injection in it to add these trace minerals to your drinking water. It tastes GREAT and has you feeling FANTASTIC!
Ross
Brilliant as always. Thank you loads for the great advice Ross.
Hey Jenny! You’re very very welcome!
Hi Ross thank you very much for this valuable information, you are great, keep up good work. thank you again and again.
Hi Hetal
No worries! I love helping and this is my passion
Ross
Thank you so much for your invaluable advise on alkaline water.I just wanted to know is there anythiong else apart from lemon to make water alkaline which we can drink quite often.
Hi Gobind
This is covered HUGELY in video 3!
It’s going live on Tuesday…
Ross
i have been on a raw fruits and vegi diet for about 14 days and every time i check my ph on a morning it reads 6-6.5 and after my morning vegi drink it reads 7.5. by lunch time its back down to acid. when i have lunch it goes back up. i eat no snacks, meat, diary, drink alcohol or smoke. my weight is 155lbs and my height is 5ft 9” i have even tried using ph drops in my water and the scenario takes place.
can you tell me what should i do to obtain an alkaline ph throughout an entire day without getting acidic
Hi Daryl
This article explains all, I wrote it a while ago: http://www.energiseforlife.com/wordpress/2006/04/12/alkaline-test-how-to-test-your-ph-levels-saliva-urine/
Ross
Independent comparisons of water ionizers on the net are hard to find. It’s always someone who is selling them or making. The ones that appear independent seem to rate the Ionways Athena as a top model…best water quality and easiest maintenance – cleans itself.
Also another site warned that you need to treat hard water before it gets to the ionizer, but the manufacturers don’t state that. When I asked Ionways support, they confirm they recommend treating, but you need a water hardness report to get the right recommendation.
Tyent offers lifetime warranty but tests weren’t as good as Ionways and their high end models are over $3000.
What models do you recommend? Water quality, machine quality and low maintenance are most important for me..as long as price is reasonable compared to others.
Hi Craig
I have to say up front that we sell Chanson Ionizers. I set up Energise 7 years ago and have tried, used, tested and deconstructed every ionizer I could possibly get my hands on and I have NEVER seen such a quality, safe and high performance unit as the Chanson. We could sell any ionizer we want – companies are ALWAYS trying to get us to sell their units (we’re the biggest and most known alkaline diet site in the world – they see us as a gold mine…it doesn’t really work like that) but we only want to sell Chanson, because we truly believe they are the best units.
I love them for their performance (ability to get super high and super low pH water, strong antioxidant water, and the internal filter is the best), their reliability (other ionizers we’ve sold have a defect rate of about 14%, but our experience in selling Chanson since August 2010 has seen us have a defect rate of about 1%, and their trust and safety – they are the only ionizer company in the world with a (20-strong) dedicated R&D team, ISO 9001 cert, CE cert, NSF cert etc.
They rock, we love them!
And believe me there are NO independent review sites out there. Review sites exist in every market and they are always with a vested interest in making money…
Ross
Hi Ross,
I’m loving your videos and am trying my best to go alkaline! I have three questions for you:
First, if I’m going to be drinking 4 litres of water a day, will I need to supplement with elecrolites because I’ll be peeing so much???????? Secondly, should all 4 litres have squeezed lemons in them? If not, how many lemons per day in the water? Thirdly, I LOVE lemon water, so happy to drink all 4 litres with lemons, but will that affect the enamel on my teeth?
Toodles,
Cari
Hi Cari
1) you can add electrolytes – 100% pure sodium bicarbonate is great, or organic himalayan salt once per day
2) you should only really do the lemon water a couple of times per day….
Ross
Hi Ross,
Check this website out: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/jul/13/myth-eight-glasses-water-day
Would appreciate your comments on the above.
Thanks,
Sangela
Itās laughable really. Your body uses 1.5 litres per day in itās usual bodily functions. To say 6-8 glasses per day (about 1.5 litres) is dangerous(!) is quite absurd. I mean, really. You lose more than that per day, plus if you work out for an hour you lose another litre, plus in summer you lose at least another 500ml compared to in winterā¦
I have a test. If just SIX glasses are dangerous, then try having 3 glasses per day for a week and tell me how you feel. Then have 3 litres per day for a week and tell me how you feel (and look).
I love that the article scrapes the barrel by saying that one of the negatives of being hydrated is that you are tired because you have to get up in the night to pee! Clutching. At. Straws.
Hi Ross,
I sent you an email on Wednesday 13th but didn’t get any reply to my email.
I would love to hear from you regarding my question.
Many thanks,
Sangela
Hi Sangela
Had to take a few days off – very pregnant girlfriend! I have answered it below now..
Ross
hi ross, great video, cant believe how much water you really need to drink.
also how do these bottled water companies get away with advertising high ph levels when they clearly have not.
i normally 2.5 litres of drench bottled water per day but my skin is still not great and i get spots, its quite fustrating really as i see lots of people at work drinking tea, coffee and fizzy drinks all day and not get the same skin as me.
my body is pretty toned and i eat a healthy diet, ijust want to get rid of my flabby stomach without losing weight of my face and other parts.
please advise wot wud be best.
your videos are awsome
thanks
bc
Hi Bobby
They are allowed to say what the bottled water would be as soon as it’s bottled, but the degradation occurs over time (about 2 weeks).
The removing of acne is one of the most immediate benefits of ionized water. I’ll talk about this a lot more in video three but it is incredible and is something I truly LOVED when I started drinking ionized water – I used to have pretty bad adult acne…no more!
Ross
Excellent video Ross, we all need a person like yourself to remind us how much water we should be drinking. I love my cups of tea but I will be substituting them for a glass of water or herbal tea in the future.
Nice one Geraldine – thats a great start.
Hi Everyone!
I promise I will get to all of these wonderful comments within the next 12 hours! I need some sleep! Did you see that there were 300 comments on video one!
Amazing – you guys ROCK!
Ross
can i make my food alkaline by the use of lemon juice like I do for water to make it alkaline
This helps! A dressing of lemon juice and olive oil is great.
Ross
I’m 52 year old 196lbs I run 5 miles a day and 10, 16 or 18 miles on the week end. You guessed it I run marathons how much water should I be drinking??
Hi Jesse
It is recommended to drink 1 litre per hour of exercise, throughout the exercise. I’d also hydrate with water containing alkaline mineral salts such as sodium bicarbonate or Dr Young’s pHour Salts. I talk about this a lot more in video 3.
Cheers
Ross
thanke you for all that information i look forward to the next video.please tell me if this diet is good in winter beaucause here is verry cold and i don’t know if you can eat and drink like you said.mariana
Hi Mariana
Yes, this diet is good all year ’round.
Ross
Thanks for articles and videos about water, our paper today says 8 glasses of water a day is bad for you they say it can cause hyponatraemia and damage kidneys, Drs also agreed with this saying it is dangerous to drink too much water, please explain why this is, many thanks, Jonathan
Hi Jonathan

Hi Ross,
Thank you for all the information you so generously provide for us.
I have a question on Chanson Water products. Does it filter the water before ionizing it or do we need a water filter as well? I am considering investing in one (I live in L.A./USA).
Thanks.
Hey Guity! Long time no contact! How are you?
The Chanson does have an internal filter that is really good – it is a chemical-free, 5 micron silver impregnanted carbon block internal filter. I’ve not seen an ionizer before with such a strong filter…
Ross
aloha, much appreciation for all your work in creating a healthier world. Yor videos are really inspiring and clear. I have a very healthy diet and I am very fortunate to be living in a pristine environment in northern Caliifornia. I am following Dr Young’s protocol and I am having amazing results. I have mountain spring water that comes out of the ground at 7.4 ph. It is tested from a digital aquarium water tester. I made an ionizer from a youtube video. This is boosting the water to 9.4 in 24 hours by using a110AC to 24 DC/500ma transformer. The metal that I am using to ionize the water is titanium. I noticed that it is deterioating and flaking off in the bottom of the negative tank(PH). My question is do you have any experience in using titanium and is there any side effects? Or would you know who to contact?
thank you so much for your time and energy. One person DOES and CAN make a difference.
sienna
Hi Sienna
To be completely frank my only comment on this is that I would NEVER recommend making your own ionizer. The deterioration of the titanium coating means that you’re probably giving yourself heavy metal poisoning.
Please please get tested for heavy metals and stop using your home made ionizer until you get the results.
Please also look into buying a proper unit. Your health is too important for being so risky.
Ross
hello, how are you! i really want to drink and eat healthy, i want to know if it’s ok to drink filtered water, that the only water i drink! i have H-Pylori, and i really want help in to being more healthy.and i do not have a Alkaline water filter, can’t afford it, so can i boil water, or drink filtered water, please let me know, thanks for this video, also can you tell me how much does the Alkaline Ionizer machine cost.
Hi Pamela
The ionizers all cost different amounts – from $1800 upwards. It’s why we offer a monthly installment plan, helps make it more affordable.
Filtered is def better than non-filtered, so stick with this!
Ross
Hi Ross,
I watched your video and I had to take a minute to say thank you.
Thank you!
Ginger
Thanks so much Ginger!
Ross
What happens to filtered tap water when boiled ??? hydration, hydration, hydration the way to excellent health
Warmest regards : peter
Hi Peter
Do you mean with regards to the pH? It would remain stable.
Cheers
Ross
Hello Ross, does the ORP have any relation to the “dry residue” rating of water? Looking forward to the 3rd video. 2 days ago my hubby bought a reverse osmosis filter to fit in our kitchen, so looking forward to finding out what is the next step. A reverse osmosis water fountain was also recently fitted at my work place as well.
Are the ORP and PH gadgets you used expensive to buy??
Thanks and best regards,
Sue
Hi Sue
To be 100% honest, I would swap the RO for an ionizer if possible. As explained in video 1 RO leaves the water really acidic. You CAN use the RO as a pre-filter to the ionizer and this is fantastic because the RO really is a strong filter, all you need to do is fit a ‘remineralization’ cannister to your RO before the water runs into the ionizer.
You can find the ORP and pH gadets online, google ‘Oakton pH testr 10′ and ‘PINPOINT ORP meter’
Ross
Hi Ross!! I follow your emails & so appreciated instruction as to nutrition & specially the subject regarding WATER & pH…THANK YOU & MAY OUR CREATOR CONTINUE TO ENLIGHTEN, PROSPER & INSPIRE YOU & ALL ALL OF YOUR BELOVED ONES. WE NEED MORE “ROSSĀ“” IN THE WORLD OF PAIN & “DEHYDRATION”!
I DO HAVE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS, SORRYIT“S JUST I GOT SO INSPIRED GREETING YOU AS IF I HAD YOU RIGHT HERE IN FRONT OF ME..
1- DOES THE WATER pH & NUTRIENTS VARY WHEN WE BOIL THE WATER?
CAUSE IN YOUR TEA & TONIC RECEPIES YOU SUGGEST TO “BOIL ALKALINE WATER” FOR THE DIFFERENT TEAS…IF WE LOOSE THE pH BY BOILING THE RAW SPINACH THATĀ“S APROX 9 pH (RAW), AFTER BOILING IT IT COMES OUT APROX 6.5! CORRECT? SO IF THIS HAPPENS TO THE VEGGIES, WILL IT AFFECT THE WATER AS WELL?
2- I DONĀ“T HAVE AN ALKALINE WATER FILTER (YET) SO I MAKE MY ALKALINE WATER WITH LIME JUICE & OR WHEATGRASS JUICE (I PRODUCE WHEATGRASS JUICE HERE IN GAUTEMALA, THATS MY BUSINESS…) MY QUESTION IS, CAN WE BRING THE pH UP TO ALKALINE 8-9 WITH LIME OR WHEATGRASSJUICE FOR YOUR TEA RECEPIES?
3.- WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO DISTRIBUTE YOUR PRODUCTS & WATER IONIZERS HERE IN GUATEMALA? I AM VERY INTERESTED IN PROMOTING MACRO-HYDRATION. THANKS AGAIN ROSS, I TRANSLATE TO SPANISH MOST OF YOUR TIPS TO SPEAD THE “GOOD NEWS” TO ANYONE WHO LISTENS…MOST OF THEM ARE VERY POOR & ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED FAMILIES. I HOPE THAT ONE DAY WE WILL HAVE A LARGE ALKALINE FILTER IONIZER TO HELP THE NEEDED…
Hey Juan Carlos!
Thanks so much!
1) The pH doesn’t vary when boiled if the water is ionized. I wouldn’t personally boil water with pH drops in it. I am not sure what that would do to the chemical structure of the water…
2) wheatgrass juice would certainly help the alkalising effect of the beverage. Lime works the same as lemon so it decreases the pH but is very alkaline-forming once consumed
3) if you want to promote ionizers in Guatemala, drop me an email on ross@energiseforlife.com and we can take it from there
Ross
It’s so great to hear positive reinforcement for healthy water drinking habits, especially since these tips confirm what I already aim for daily!
I live in North America (USA) and it’s strange how others criticize me for always toting around water bottles and drinking massive amounts of liquid throughout the day. I also receive tons of flack for avoiding tap water. For instance, while on the job, employers mostly operate out of blind ignorance and give me an earful for carrying water with me, saying “You don’t need it.” Moreover, when I’m a guest or restaurant patron, others don’t understand when I ask for water but decline something straight from the tap.
Hi Austin
Incredible isn’t it! Yet they walk around looking like and feeling like crap…
Keep it up mate
Ross
I am living on a low disability income. I cannot afford an expensive ionic water system or purifying system. How can I get my well water that tests high in acidicy to be at the proper ph? Is it possible?
Thank you,
Connie Wilson/ Arkansas
Hi Connie
If it definitely tests low pH I would look for another source of water I’m afraid. Especially if it is below 5. It would take a lot of drops to get this up to pH 8.
Drop me an email on ross@energiseforlife.com and I can give more in-depth support.
Ross
Thank you for this video. I have been drinking water regularly but this gave me ways to increase amount and to clarify how much is right for me. Also I have been using bottled water and now I know I need filtered water instead. I look forward to you next video.
Kate
Nice one Kate – glad I was helpful…
Hi Ross I had to smile at your promise to hydrate me “without spending a penny” – I would love to be able to stop rushing to the loo!
Hi Carol
Heh, only just realised my own pun!
This will get much better within a few days of proper hydration I promise!
Ross
For many people, it’s not about remembering to drink their quota of purified, alkaline water per day, it’s about motivation. Someone just starting out on the alkaline diet (and who was not used to drinking large quantities of water) might be totally daunted by the prospect of drinking 3 to 4 liters a day. How much should they drink to begin with and in what increments would you suggest they increase the amount?
Hi Veronica
That’s exactly what I’ve taught in the video and the downloads.
Thanks
Ross
Hi Ross,
First of all I would like to thank you for all the information you regularly send, you have a big Algerian fan here!!!
I understand now how important it is to drink enough, I am working on it very hard and I am so happy with all your advise,
Having understood how bad “normal”water is, could you please tell me what good alkaline water is, and how to get it.
Thanks so much,
ismahane
Hi Ismahne
Did you get the Definitive Guide to Alkaline Water PDF? If you’re on this page you would have done!
If not email me on ross@energiseforlife.com and I’ll resend.
Also – video 3 covers this in huge detail and will be live on Tuesday…
Ross
My husband travels all the time. What product can he add to bottled water to make it more alkaline?
Thanks
Chris Beranek
Hi Chris
pH drops would be best: http://www.energiseforlife.com/cat–pH-Drops-and-Capsules–PH_DROPS.html
Ross
Hi Hi,
How long does it take for the tongue to change? I have been on the alkaline diet almost 4 months, 2 months being extreme.
I drink 3-4 liters a day. I usually get distilled water, but I will get reverse osmosis too. I add trace minerals and ph drops to the water. Good??
2.5 liters, I add green powder and lemon or lime. Is all of that good?
Thanks so much!
Hey Shawna
It’s a bit of a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question I’m afraid. Distilled and RO provide good filtration but a quite acidic pH. If you have the finances to get an ionizer I strongly recommend this over investing further into RO. The drops aren’t necessary with ionized, but I would definitely add to RO or distilled.
Green powder – good.
Lemon or lime – good!
You’re doing great!
Ross
Thank you! thank you! I came across your information by chance over a month ago when looking up information about alkaline diets and water. The improvements to my health are remarkable! I have just listened to your video on tap water and my husband, who was with me, heard ir too. He thinks you sound like a great guy, especially answering peoples questions so efficiently. Maybe now he will take this important information seriously. My question is how can I obtain your recioe book quickly? I have found internet information which intimates that another printing is necessary. Wishing you all the very best and I have clicked the facebook button, Ithink this information is so so important……Maggie
Hey Maggie!
Thanks so much! You can order my recipe book right now here: http://www.energiseforlife.com/alkaline-diet-recipe-book-jw
Awesome comment – thanks so much for sharing!
Ross
Hi Ross,
Many thanks for another excellent video delivered in an informative, logical and passionate way.
Love your sincerity and eagerness to simplify it all for us. Much appreciated. I have a question Ross,
Does the water have to be sipped slowly for maximum absorbtion or can it be drunk quite quickly and get the same result ?
Hi Jacinta
Sipped is best, but swigged is better than not at all! I don’t really mess around with my first 500ml – litre, it goes down pretty quick!
Ross
Hi Ross,
Thank you for your time and this lovely video. I have been using Brita Jug for a long time now. What do you think of this?
I know you are trying to help us with Alkaline Diet but I also understand that you want us to buy this expensive jug which I can’t afford at the moment.
Await your comments by return.
Many thanks,
Sangela
Hi Sangela
The brita, in my tests, makes the water more acidic, but does do an OK job of filtration>
Ross
Hi Ross, your video regarding how to stay alkaline was good. I weigh 120 lbs – I drink 3 litres of alkaline water – I will go for 4 litres. I have a alkaline Ionizer water machine at home Amega AM Water Actify – water treatment system – it connects to my tap – it has alkaline – purify – and acidic buttons that I push.
Does the water machine sound good to you? I am trying really hard to keep myself more alkaline versus acidic and eating more alkaline food as well. One glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon in the morning good idea?
I look forward to hearing from you – please respond to the above information I have written to you.
Cheers Jocelan – Vancouver, British Columbia
Hi Jocelan
The machine is not one I have heard of or personally used so it is difficult to say. They all look OK on the outside but its not until you get inside a used one to see what the state of the plates and filter is like that you really know. A lot of cheaper units have chips on the plates which is a surefire track to heavy metal poisoning.
Not saying this is definitely the case with yours of course, it could be an awesome machine, just giving an example of what can go wrong.
I hate to (and never will) badmouth other ionizers but I can only say for sure that ‘SAFE’ ionizers include (obviously) Chanson, Jupiter, Life, Enagic. That’s not to say they all perform as well as each other – thats a whole other story – but they’re all at least safe.
Ross

When drinking green powder I pee heaps more and so I wonder if i’m getting dehydrated even though I can drink upto 4 litres of greens a day and also I get immense headaches at times when doing greens.
So if I am 93 kg how many litres of water i need and how much of tht csa be green water or lemon infused water.
Cheers matey.
Hugh
Hey Hugh
The headaches would be as a result of detoxifying. How long has this been happening and what is your diet/lifestyle like aside from the greens?
Ross
Hi there
Thank you for your amazing info. I am going to buy a water ionizer as per your info , but I need to know one thing.I am in sales and spend little time in my office , so I need to have water with me on the road between clients. You mention that toxins leach into the water from plastic water bottles , so how do I carry a litre of water with me , as a glass bottle will be difficult to carry around.
Kind regards
Hi Mark
Stainless steel is the best or a plastic that is BPA free – you can get these online and from camping shops.
Cheers
Ross
Hello Ross,
Thank you very much for all of your posts and free guides, those have been invaluable to me and I am feeling great ever since I began hydrating myself with 3 liters of water daily. What I do is take my 1.5 L bottle of water and make sure I drink half before 3PM. Then I stop drinking because I have a long commute on the metro from D.C. to Virginia and I do not want to use the bathroom until I get home. Once home I make sure to refill my bottle and finish before bedtime. This keeps it simple for me and I have noticed my skin clearing up and I have a lot more energy.
However, the reason I am writing to you is because while you and I have the luxury of being able to use the bathroom as many time as we need through out the day, my fiance does not.
He has Muscular Dystrophy (Beckers) and spends about 17 hours a day in a wheel chair. He uses the bathroom once in the AM once in the afternoon (around 5PM) and once before bedtime. The reason for this is because transfers are very difficult and he is on the road most of the day, attending appointments at schools and hospitals and clients’ homes running his business of custom durable medical equipment. In many instances the location where he is during the day does not have an accessible bathroom which results in him not drinking enough water because he is afraid he will not have an accessible place to use the bathroom.
I do my best to hydrate him once we get home, but at this point it is late in the evening, about 7PM and not as effective.
I would like to see if you have any suggestions for him, or people with disabilities in general, the best ways to hydrate when you do not have access to a bathroom through out the day.
Any advice or comments you can offer are greatly appreciated, thank you so much Ross!
Hi Sherry
Firstly congrats for your routine – that is EXACTLY what I am trying to teach in this video.
For your fiance I would strongly recommend building up slowly. When I first started out I was having to dash to the loo all the time(!) but as your body gets better hydrated (wetter) it is able to better absorb the water you drink and it doesn’t just wash right through – so have him start really slowly and build up. Also he can of course down a litre before the AM break and again before the PM break to make sure he’s at least getting 2 litres in then and then whatevr else he can add is a bonus.
Good luck and keep in touch
Ross
Hello Ross,
You taught me something new today. Thank you. Have you already told us how to get the gadgets you have to check for PH and ORP? Is it ORP. Thank you for your care. Until next, time…
Hi Rebecca
You need a pH Meter and an ORP meter
I like: http://www.amazon.com/Oakton-Waterproof-pHTestr-Pocket-Tester/dp/B003UPO8E6 and http://www.americanmarineusa.com/pdfs/ORPmonitor.pdf
Ross
Thanks for the video’s they are fabtastic ans so imformative xxxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks Tracy!
Thanks for your answer re the lemon juice bottled vs fresh – I’d better buy some more lemons then! Thanks also for the alkaline teas tonics recipes. I tried the mint and lime one last night and it was great.
Another quick Q, where does Redbush tea feature on the alkaline scale, as its caffeine free I’m thinking it is pretty good?
Thanks
Catherine
Hi Catherine
Redbush is great. It’s a great way to get off coffee as it’s quite bitter.
Ross
please email me the schedule & tips you mentioned. thanks.
Hi Karen, they’re available for download below the video.
Ross
Thanks Ross!
Drinking my water now and am excited to see your video on comparing different systems!
Kim
Hey Kim
The vid is coming on Tuesday!
Ross
Ross, another informative video! Thanks so much!
I purchased the pH drops for those times when filtered water is not available. Does it do any good to put drops in other beverages? For example, if I have a glass of wine, would adding exponentially the amount of drops do anything to raise the alkalinity?
You are the best and I appreciate you very much! 23 lbs. gone since I discovered Energise for Life, and feeling GREAT!
Hi Shelley
Heh, I get asked this a lot. It doesn’t help. The pH scale is logarithmic meaning pH 6 is 10x more acidic than 7, 5 is 100x, 4 is 1000x and 3 is 10000x. You’d have to use SO MANY drops of the pH drops to
get wine etc up to pH 7 that it would taste horrible and be unsafe.
…and finally – WOW – you’ve lose 23lbs since you found us! Thats so awesome!
Email me more info on that, I’d love to hear your story: ross@energiseforlife.com
Ross
Hi Ross,
brilliant second video, I can’t wait another day and am going to order the filter jug, all I can afford at the moment, hope to get an ioniser at some point. Do you know what the south of england’s ph is, I know the water is quite hard, so what will the ph be when using a filter jug, keep up the great work.
Many thanks
Jacquie
Hi Jacquie
It would prob be around 7 normally if the water is really hard and up to around 8 to 8.5 with the jug.
Cheers!
Ross
HI,
I understand how important hydration is and it would be easy to follow your steps if I didn’t have to work or go to university. When I’m at work especially, (I’m a croupier, so deal cards) I get breaks when I’m sent on a break, and not when I want to have one, therefore, it’s kind of hard first of all to drink (we are not allowed to drink while on the table), second of all to use the toilet as often as I would need it if I drank the almost 3 liters that my 8 stones require.
Also, at the moment I’m aiming for 2 liters a day, which include herbal teas and green drinks, as well, and even that makes my stomach so full, that I find it hard to eat let’s say 3 times a day.
What would be your suggestion?
Hey Kat
Understand, thats a hard situation. I’d say that it’s probably against employment/workplace laws to prevent you from having water at your desk and from preventing you from going to the toilet – but could be difficult dealing cards and swigging from a water bottle so I understand in a way!
The reason you’re feeling so full is because of the issues with tap and bottled water I mentioned in vid one – positive ORP, low pH and the microclustering which I talk about in video three. Higher quality water (such as ionized) does not leave you feeling like this at all….
You might want to look into food combining principles too if drinking makes you so full you can’t eat…
Build up your hydration slowly using the download below the video…
Cheers
Ross
Great video Ross. Very straight-forward and easy to understand.I started to drink at least 4 litres a day with as much lemon juice as possible and I see the difference immediately in terms of my nails, hair and skin but especially my energy levels! As soon as I miss my water target, I feel the effect on my energy levels straight away so I am reminded just how little I was drinking before! Looking forward to the next video. Thanks once again for sharing this information.
Hi Michelle
Sounds great but don’t overdo the lemons! Maximum I’d have is half that amount…
Isn’t it amazing how much better you feel when hydrated!
Ross
hi ross, dennis from northern ireland….thanks for youre free advice, and thanks for not trying to minipulate people out of their money, with some smooth talk, like most people seem to do these days……keep up the good work….i’ve got 2 quick questions…..1.i’ve been putting a half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into 4 litres of water and it turns the water alkaline,i’m only doing it like this for the time being because my finances are low and i cant afford to buy the alkaline drops which i have previously been using,do you think this method of alkalising youre water is ok,even if the bicarb is organic…..my second question.2.when i squeeze fresh lemon into my alkaline water it turns the water acidic again,as i’ve been testing it with my ph testing strips.is it still ok to drink this acidic water,i heard that the lemon becomes alkaline when it gets into youre system,so would you think its ok to squeeze a few fresh lemons into my fresh batch of alkaline water which i make up every day,and to use this water throughout the day for drinking even though technicaly it’s acidic water…….thanks again
Hi Dennis
You’re right on both counts. The bicarb in the water is better than nothing, but don’t increase it from this amount.
Lemons are indeed alkaline once digested but will make your water, in the first instance, have a lower pH. This is why I don’t recommend mixing lemons and bicarb! IT would give your digestion a hard time!
Ross
Dear Ross
Thank you so much for all your hard work by giving us this very informative research you’re doing. It’s greatly appreciated.
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 3 yrs ago and I’m trying my best to get myself back to get on alkaline level by eating more alkaline foods and drinking alkaline water.
As you know the water in London is very hard and I find it hard to drink because of the taste. At present I’m drinking the bottled water which says 7.8 ph with lots of hesitation.
Having watched your video proved me my hesitation.
Is Brita filtered tap water better compare to bottled water to drink?
Unfortunately I can’t afford to buy the ionizer or the ph drops due to financial shortage at the moment as I lost my job recently.
Best regards
Mary
Hi Mary
Sorry to hear about your job!
Brita water generally seems to lower the pH by about 1 in every test I’ve done. I’m not sure why but my hypotheses is that it is filtering out the mag and calcium etc from the water (the alkaline minerals).
Brita is probably better than bottled though…
Ross
Hi Ross
Sat here at 1pm drinking my water with green powder in watching your video!
2.5 litres down, 1.5 to go! This is in our uk papers today, but you’d better not read it becaue I think it would make you mad;-) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2014112/Drinking-water-bad-health-Benefits-myth.html Any of you out there struggling stick with it! I started off at 2 litres, then upped it to three and only recently upped to 4 litres per day! Hurry up with the next video Ross! Can’t wait!
Kind regards
Wizz
Hey again Wizz!
Heh – I’ve seen much more misleading stuff from the Daily Mail than that! The other day they tried to tell me Luka Modric was off to Chelsea…oh, wait…
In all seriousness though you tell me how you feel best:
1) drinking 0.8 litres per day
2) drinking 3-4 litres per day
???
My favourite clutching at straws was this paragraph:
Drinking excessive amounts can also lead to loss of sleep as people have to get up in the night to go to the toilet,
I mean, seriously!
Ross
Hi Ross
Thanks for the video. I like your passion of teaching people to achieve optimal health.
You make me realized that I have neglected the quality of water while I may have focused on the quantity only, and I often don’t drink enough according to the calculation that you have taught us.
Thanks again. Look forward to your next video of making drinking water better quality.
Hi Dolly
I was exactly the same – hydration was an afterthought…you won’t believe the difference it makes to get proper quantities of proper QUALITY water each day!
Ross
Hi Ross
Apologies if this has been covered before – I just wondered what your take is on the use of prill beads and cosmic energy stones/ special jugs that raise the rating of the water on the bovis scale?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Dale
Hi Dale
I’m not a huge huge fan of Prill beads, but I’m not dead-against them either. You don’t truly get any of the 3 big benefits of using an ionizer that I talked about in video one (pH, filtration and ORP) but they do help with the pH a little.
Ross
Hi
Great videos, I’m definitely going to drink more lemon water. ![]()
But I have a question: I have water softening (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_softening) and i was wondering if that is better to drink than normal water ? Or is it even worse ?
Thanks
Tom
Hi Tom
Hard to tell without testing your water for how much Calcium & Mag is removed and the process, and what this process does to the water. It would be a fair guess, however, to say that this makes the pH lower as Ca and Mg are the two most alkaline minerals and the ionizers actually use these minerals in the ionization process to produce the great alkaline water they produce. Other filters that remove these minerals (such as Reverse Osmosis, Distillers etc) are left with a very acid forming pH.
Ross
Hi Ross, I love your videos so easily digestible… I will pass them along to others. I have a water ionizer and wouldn’t live without it! I really notice the difference if I am away from home and do not drink my good clean water. The litre bottle works really well when I have that I do drink so much more!
Thank you again for everything you do, It’s some of the most valuable info I have heard.
Paula.
Thanks Paula – and congrats on getting the ionizer, you’re a million steps ahead!
Ross
I am VERY interested in your video about water.
I have just had a filter with an ozone ‘plant’ attached so that all our drinking water passes through this to remove all the ‘nasties’ I am confused about the acid versus alkaline in what we eat and drink as a doctor assured me that the stomach acids’ are so strong they ‘deal’ with what passes through and therefore makes no difference, if – for instance – we put lemon in our water to help deal with the acid!!
Look forward to your comments on what actually happens to anything – food or drink that we consume.
Thanks
S M Tristem
Hi Susan
The stomach produces hydrochloric acid on demand depending on what we put in there and the resulting effect of this is what matters – AFTER digestion. Nobody is saying you can’t digest acid foods. This
is completely missing the point…
This is an important point so I want to quote Dr Young here who responded to this same query from the occasionally-misleading-occasionally-brilliant Dr Mercola:
According to Dr. Mercola drinking alkaline water is of no value because it will be minimized by the hydrochloric acid of the stomach.
That’s exactly the point Mercola! You want to minimize the hydrochloric acid residues in the stomach!!!!
Of course what Mercola does not explain is the biochemistry of the digestive system and especially the stomach. The facts are that for every molecule of hydrochloric acid produced in the stomach an equal amount of sodium bicarbonate is produced by the cover cells. The equation is as follows: NaCl + H20 + CO2 = NaHCO3 + HCL.
The stomach pulls sodium, chloride, water and carbon dioxide to make sodium bicarbonate, an alkalizing compound with the waste product of hydrochloric acid.
The stomach will always produce sodium bicarbonate to alkalize the food we eat or the liquids we drink to prepare the food and drink for biological transformation into stem cells in the crypts of the small intestine. The more acidic the food or drink the more sodium bicarbonate will be produced to buffer the acids of the food or drink. This of course leaves you with a belly full of acid which leads to all sorts of stomach disorders including the acidifying of the blood and then tissues.
The stomach does not need to produce any sodium bicarbonate when we are eating or drinking alkalizing foods or alkaline drinks, including electron rich alkaline water.
The key here to remember is this: the stomach is NOT an organ of digestion but an organ of contribution and its main contribution is to alkalize the food and drink we ingest.
You want to drink electron rich alkaline water to neutralize or buffer the hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
Dr Young is 100% correct here.
Ross
great and really informative. thank you. was wondering about real spring water, ie from an actual running drinkable springs that come from the ground. thanks again
Hi Victoria
You’d have to test it in case of contaminants from local farming/industry – but spring water is exactly what ionized water is replicating. The tiny electrical charge the ionizer adds is designed to replicate the electrical charge water gets when it is naturally crashing through springs, rivers and waterfalls etc.
Ross
Hi Ross, You are truly very motivating and the alkaline diet and the importance of hydration is a real boost for me . I have just been diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer and even before this was aware that my immune system was rock bottom .Now trying to get as many antioxidants as I can. Hoping to get through this so I can return to NZ to do the Milford track!! Thankyou so much.
Hi Sue
All the best with your journey to recovery! Congrats on taking matters into your own hands and believing in yourself!
Ross
Hi Ross
Is it OK to use bottles from mineral water and say Cola to store the water in for the day? I am using my ioniser to give my daughter a bottle of water a day but its going into one of these plastic bottles for her to take it home with her.
In order to make sure I know that I am drinking enough I am also filling a bottle for myself each time I use the ioniser.
Hi Sue
I wouldn’t reuse water bottles from the shops – the plastic is pretty poor. I once worked at a large drinks company and there was a big cover up because their biggest bottled water brand would warp/melt considerably if left in direct sunlight. Went unnoticed for years!
I’d try to get either a glass, BPA-free or stainless stell bottle.
Hope this helps!
Ross
Thanks Ross.
I am going to try this as I never go for water except first thing in the morning.
Hi Daxa
If you only drink water first thing then changing to having 2-4 litres throughout the day will make a HUGE impact!
Let me know how it goes
Ross
Hi Ross,
I tried to view your email ( 2nd one on alkaline water ) but I could only hear you but not see you. The video bit is just black. Please would you try sending it again. I note that you sent it a couple of hours earlier but that too is blank! I reckon I need to see you as you demonstrate the water in your kitchen. Thank you.
Kind regards
Rosemary Fox
Hi Rosemary
Not sure I can help on that end! If everyone has an issue it’s usually something I can fix – but when its individuals it is usually something that is your end. But I’ve NO idea what it would be! Sorry I can’t help more – maybe try updating your flash software on your computer?
Ross
Dear Ross,
Thank you for your energetic and informative videos. Can I substitute limes for lemons? Thank you.
Song
Hi Song – that’s fine!
Any advantage to bottled distilled water?
Hi Cora
The advantage of distilled is that it is filtered well. The disadvantage is that the water is acidic and bottled often means that it is old, with a +ORP and sometimes the plastics from the bottle can get into the water, especially if the bottle has gotten warm at
any time.
Ross
Very good – Motivating…
Hey Carol
Glad you like it! I’ve put all of my passion into these videos and your opinion is incredibly important to me – I know you know your onions.
How are things going at Hillside?
Keep in touch
Ross
What great motivation to move towards optimal health. It’s like having a personal trainer for free!
Thanks Ross
Hi Theresa
What a compliment!
Thanks so much for watching and I’m stoked you liked the vid.
Ross
Hi,
Are your videos on you tube? I read all my emails on iPhone and iPad and you can’t view your videos on them so I never watch them. If you have a YouTube link that would be amazing.
Thanks
Nikki
Hi Nikki
I’m going to work my socks off to get these iPad/iPhone compatible in the next few days…watch this space…
Ross
Love the cheat sheet! You’ve done a great job with this video series. You should have a Facebook Share button.
Hey Marissa
You’re right! Facebook share would spread the word far better than just the like button!
I’m on it…
Ross
Hi Ross – quick Q. Is it OK to use lemon juice from a bottle as opposed to freshly squeezed? Does it make much difference if it isn’t fresh?
If we start drinking the correct amount of good quality water, does this mean that we can be less strict on the food and still get awesome results? Certainly sounds like from your video
Thanks
Catherine
Hi Catherine
Heh, interesting questions. I admire your 80/20 philosophy.
Firstly, the lemons – fresh is best. You won’t get anything but flavour from the bottled.
Regarding your second question, there are a few variables and interesting points to make.
Firstly, it depends on:
The quality of your water
The state of your health now
Your goals
Your level of exercise/type of exercise
What you consider ‘less strict’ to be
If your goals are just to be a bit healthier and you were drinking lots of perfect alkaline, ionized, superfiltered water then you could be more ‘balanced’ for sure. But again it depends on what ‘less strict’ means to you. If this means eating any old crap but just drinking good water then the answer is no. If it means you let your hair down once or twice per week but are pretty good the rest of the time then
i’d say, ‘probably’.
I think it’s a question you have to answer yourself, really…
Ross
Ross,
This is an excellent video. Being a kinesthetic learner I need to take notes to get what you are saying. Auditory learners can get what you say just fine, but not me. Your PDF notes are very good. However-How do I pause so I can take notes? It takes too much time for me to keep restarting to get it. Thank you Kris
Hi Kris
If you click on the videos they pause. I need to fix it up to get the controls back on there properly…
Ross
I think what you are doing to make people aware of how critical it is to get Alkaline. And the tips for remembering to hydrate are exactly what my probem has always been. I got so much going on in my life that I tend not to remember little things like MY HEALTH & WELLBEING. I’ve been trying hard to make Alkaline water by electrolosis with a home made machine without the results ive hoped for. Do you ever talk about the benefits of Acidic Water and how it is used in todays world and can be used for many beneficial things? thanks again for what you do.
