So why Alkalise? So, now that you know something about pH, and how acidification negatively impacts your body, let's talk about how to tell if you're too acidic. In order to maintain proper pH, your body is constantly trying to get rid of acids. The primary system it uses is your renal system (kidneys). The normal rate of acid excretion through the kidneys gives urine a pH that falls between 6.75 and 7.25. By testing the degree of acidity of your urine, you can determine if your body is saturated with too much acid.
The Body becomes acidic and pH imbalanced primarily as a result of three things. 1. Ingesting Acids. Eating too many acidifying foods (meat, processed sugar, packaged foods, dairy, coffee, alcohol, etc.) causes acidification because of the "acid ash" these types of foods and non foods leave in your body. The overload of the acids these foods leave can overwhelm the body's ability to neutralize them. 2. Creation Of Acids. As the body becomes acidic as a result of the ingestion of acids, microforms and pathogens start to grow and proliferate in your body. These critters (yeasts, Candida, anaerobic bacteria, etc) excrete toxins and acids into your system, causing further pH imbalance. 3. Poor Elimination Of Acids. As the body becomes more and more acidic, its buffering systems become depleted. pH buffers such as alkaline minerals become scarce, and acids continue to build-up. |
