The
alkaline diet is based on the premise that all illness and disease
is caused by the over-acidification of the body through
the consumption of acidifying foods such as meat, dairy, saturated
and trans-fats, refined foods, sugars, sweets, chocolates, coffee,
alcohol, tobacco etc. The solution to this, naturally, is to increase
the intake of alkaline foods such as fresh vegetables, salads and
greens, low-sugar fruits, ‘good’ fats, nuts, seeds,
pulses, fresh juices etc.
The fact that these foods fall so neatly
into these categories certainly adds a lot of weight behind this
approach. This approach
also follows such common sense that it is difficult to dismiss.
It is simply telling you what your mother always told you – eat
your vegetables and steer clear of the sweets, fatty foods and
dairy.
Proposed and developed by the likes of Dr.
Young and Tony Robbins it is advised that
this health approach
is kicked off with a ‘cleanse’.
The Basics The cleanse is also known as a liquid feast which should give
some indication as to what the detox entails. Cleansing basically
consists of consuming only raw, alkalising, liquid foods and drinks.
While on face value you may have alarm bells ringing at the thought
of not consuming solids during the detox – there is some
pretty strong logic behind this.
The consumption on a cleanse is 100% fresh vegetable juices and
soups with additional supplements such as omega oils, vitamins,
green drinks (made up of powdered grasses such as wheatgrass),
cleansing aids and minerals.
How is it done?
Cleansing is not a complicated process, however there are a number
of simple rules that should be adhered to in order to maximise
its effectiveness.
Water
It is absolutely essential during the cleanse that you consume
at least four litres of high quality, alkalizing water each day.
The toxins that the body is trying to expel will attempt to leave
the body in a number of different ways, including through producing
increase mucus, through the skin (spots) and through the waste
we produce. By remaining fully hydrated and alkalised the body
is given the opportunity to rapidly flush out toxins ensuring that ‘detox
symptoms’ are minimised while refreshing your body with the
fluids it needs on a daily basis.
Liquid Feasting
During the cleanse the most important thing to remember is that
this is not a fast! The cleanse is quite the opposite as it is
designed to feed your body with all of the nutrients that will
aid repair and give the body the energy and replenishment it needs
during the cleansing process. The quickest and most efficient way
to alkalise and deliver nutrients to the body is through liquids
as this is a form that allows the absorption of nutrients most
effectively ensuring minimal waste. Raw soups, vegetable juices,
green drinks are all highly alkalizing and vital to the cleanse.
Supplements and Essential Fatty Acids
Although it is not absolutely essential to use supplements during
a cleanse, it is highly recommended. The two most beneficial supplements
during the cleanse are the pHion Green powder (or capsules)
and the pHion pH Booster drops (or alternate brands such as
Inner Balance). These two supplements provide not only high fibre,
protein, alkaline salts, and a vast array of vitamins and nutrients
but are also anti-yeast, anti fungal and anti-mycotoxic, making
the water that you drink far more alkalizing.
Essential oils (ensure they are cold pressed oils such as Udo's
Choice), including omega 3 and omega 6 are important in mobilising
stored fats and toxins within the body, providing a wide range
of benefits including: lower blood pressure, cholesterol and risk
of stroke or heart disease increased weight loss through an increase
of the metabolic rate and fat burn-off, killing of cancer cells,
prevention of liver damage, improved hair, nails and skin, creation
of a healthy environment for human cells, particularly brain cells,
nerve synapses, visual receptors, adrenal glands and sex glands.
A good multi-vitamin is also recommended which contains a good
range of minerals and preferably alkaline salts. Do ensure that
any supplement you do take is vegan friendly and does not contain
yeast.
A Typical Day on the Cleanse
This schedule is just an example of what a typical day using
the Cleanse and Detox Pack would consist of.
Remember that hydration is essential to enable your body to remove
toxins. Some optional steps have been
added, including the use of the pH Booster, juiced greens/soup
and Omega Oils. These are optional but will help to
maximize the effects of using these products.
UPON WAKING
Mix pHion ™ Cleanze into 16 oz of cold water and shake
thoroughly. Drink the mixture down
on an empty stomach, fairly fast; otherwise it will get thick and
hard to swallow. Then take 3
phion™ D-Tox capsules and do not eat anything for half
an hour.
7:00 AM
Mix 1 litre of water with pH Booster™ and drink slowly.
8:30 AM (OPTIONAL)
If you have access to a juicer, juice some fresh
greens such as kale, spinach, parsley, etc.
Drink one glass of the freshly juiced greens. It is important
to note that drinking juices that
contain a high sugar content or any juice that is packaged is
not a substitute for freshly juiced
greens and should not be used during a cleanse. If you cannot
make fresh juice, just make
another green drink to substitute. Also swallow one tablespoon
of Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil
Blend.
11:00 AM
Mix 1 litre of water with pH Booster™ and drink slowly.
NOON
Mix pHion ™ Cleanze into 16 oz of cold water and shake
thoroughly.
Drink the mixture down on an empty stomach, fairly fast; otherwise
it will get thick and hard to
swallow. Then take 3 pHion ™ D-Tox capsules and do not
eat anything for half an hour.
Have a bowl (or bowls) of a raw, alkalising soup (see detox
recipes).
1:00 PM
Mix 1 litre of water with pH Booster™ and drink slowly.
4:00 PM (OPTIONAL)
Take a tablespoon of Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil
Blend and make another green drink.
5:30 PM (OPTIONAL)
Drink a glass of freshly juiced greens or make up a soup (see detox
recipes).
BEFORE BED
Mix the pHion ™ Cleanze with 16 oz of cold water and
drink the mixture down on an empty stomach.
A cleanse can last between 2 days (at the very minimum)
to 10 days (which is a great achievement). Cleansing is
hugely beneficial.
The foods
and drinks consumed during this period flood the body with an abundance
of nutrients in a form that the body can easily assimilate and
utilise with minimum energy required. The outcome of this is that
the body can heal itself rapidly and your energy levels soar!
