| Echinacea purpurea, treasured by Native Americans for its healing powers, flourished in Switzerland thanks to the skill and perseverance of Alfred Vogel. His original plants are the forerunners of the fresh, healthy herbs used to make this tincture, combined with Plantago lanceolata, a familiar meadow plant, both are grown organically and free from any contaminants. What is it used for? - For children’s ear/nose/throat ailments eg. colds, flu, recurrent infections
- Catarrhal tendencies
- Sinus problems
- Middle ear infections
- Glue ear
Why is it needed? Many children these days have weakened immune systems, causing them to succumb to infection after infection. This is particularly noticeable when, for example, they start a new school term. Whilst it is important that children’s immune systems are exposed to some challenges to allow them to mature, an immune system that is already weak will not benefit from repeated infections. Echinacea supports immune function, encouraging the better recognition and destruction of invading pathogens. As it strengthens the immune system generally rather than working directly on a specific pathogen, it is ideal for prophylactic use. It can safely be given throughout the winter or whenever a child’s health is most impaired. Glue ear and other catarrhal congestive states are extremely common amongst children. The Plantago contained in Echinacea Complex has an anticatarrhal action that cleanses and strengthens the membranous lining of the Eustachian tube and the rest of the ear/nose/throat tract. How does it work? Echinacea works by balancing the immune system so that it works efficiently. This means that you are less likely to catch colds etc, and may be less prone to allergies. It is best taken in a maintenance dose over a period of time to improve immune function. |
