| Echinacea is one of the most popular herbs used in Europe. Whilst there are two other species of Echinacea which may be found in use, tests have shown that Echinacea purpurea has the greatest activity. It is considered to be the prime remedy for the immune system and this view has been supported by extensive research. The Native Americans were the first to recognise the value of the plant, using it for wound healing and snakebites. What is it used for? - For children’s aliments eg. colds, flu, chicken pox, recurrent infections
Why is it needed? Many children these days have weakened immune systems, causing them to succumb to infection after infection. This is particularly noticeable when, for example, they start a new school term. Whilst it is important that children’s immune systems are exposed to some challenges to allow them to mature, an immune system that is already weak will not benefit from repeated infections. Echinacea supports immune function, encouraging the better recognition and destruction of invading pathogens. As it strengthens the immune system generally, rather than working directly on a specific pathogen, it is ideal for prophylactic use. It can safely be given throughout the winter or whenever a child’s health is most impaired. These small, pleasant tasting, chewable tablets are easy for children to take. Echinacea Junior is free from synthetic preservatives, flavouring and colouring. How does it work? Echinacea works by balancing the immune system so that it works efficiently. This means that you are less likely to catch colds etc, and may be less prone to allergies. It is best taken in a maintenance dose over a period of time to improve immune function. |
