| Luffa Complex brings together seven tropical herbs originating in various areas of the world. Alfred Vogel discovered this fascinating complex when he worked with Dr Fritz Aichele, a German naturopath. What is it used for? - Hayfever
- Allergic rhinitis
- Other airborne allergies e.g. animal fur, feathers, perfume
Why is it needed? 10-20% of the population are plagued with sneezing attacks, a runny or blocked nose and itchy and watering eyes. This condition is generally known as allergic rhinitis - inflammation of the nasal passages due to an allergic reaction. Allergic rhinitis can be divided roughly into two different types: seasonal allergic rhinitis, which is triggered by an allergic reaction to tree, grass or plant pollen during pollen season, and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis, which is caused by other allergens and which can occur all year round. Pollens are generally produced in the UK from February to September. The concentration peaks in early July. Allergic reactions are most noticeable in early morning when the pollen is carried into the atmosphere by the sun warming the air, and in the evening when the pollen laden warm air descends. People who are sensitive to pollen often react to other substances, such as animal hair, house dust, smoke, car exhaust fumes etc. Luffa Complex tackles most of the wide range of symptoms seen with this condition - the sneezing, itching the nose, throat and eyes, running nose and eyes, blocked nose, asthma and coughs. How does it work? Ammi visnaga (Toothpick Weed) has an antispasmodic action on the bronchial muscles, easing the symptoms of breathlessness which can accompany allergies. Aralia racemosa (American Spikenard) has been specifically used to relieve irritations of the larynx and trachea and reduce inflammation in the nose and bronchi. Cardiospermum haliacabum (Heartseed) is used to relieve allergies, especially itchy skin reactions and urticaria. Luffa operculata (Luffa) is effective in combating the symptoms of rhinitis which include sneezing, nasal discharge and a blocked nose. Larrea mexicana (Chapparal) has an antiinflammatory action comparable to steriods, reducing skin redness, itching, sneezing and other symptoms of an allergic reaction. Galphimia glauca (Golden Thryallis) is thought to have desensitising properties useful in hayfever, allergies, bronchial asthma and allergic skin disease. Okoubaka aubrevillei (Okoubaka) is added for detoxifying action. |
