Research suggests it has tremendous promise for maintaining the eyes, fertility, immunity, heart and arteries, the digestive system, muscles and joints and premature ageing of skin. Higher Nature’s astaxanthin is obtained from an unpolluted source of marine algae, Haematococcus pluvialis. The ultimate antioxidant - it has up to 550 times the antioxidant capacity of Vitamin E, and up to 10 times the antioxidant capacities of Beta Carotene and Lutein. It can help reduce the visible signs of premature ageing and protect the skin from UVA and UVB damage. In addition, it is one of the few antioxidants able to cross the blood-retina barrier and protect the eyes from free radical and UV damage. Reducing free radical damage is considered important in keeping the eyes healthy into old age. Blackcurrants are an excellent source of antioxidant anthocyanidins, polyphenols and Vitamin C. Their potency may be 3 times greater than blueberries. Blackcurrants also contain Zinc; which is important for immunity; Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, Folic acid and Vitamins A and B.
