A
new study in the US has revealed that overweight people who are
able to shed excess pounds tend to increase their wealth! This
supports ideas long held by individuals such as Tony Robbins
and Deepak Chopra that an increase in feelings about ones self
can
have a positive impact upon many other areas of our lives.
The study,
using data from over 7000 participants was undertaken by
the University of Ohio – and found that the strongest correlation
between weight loss and wealth gain was in women. |

| The
study, using data from over 7000 participants was undertaken
by the
University of Ohio – and found that
the strongest correlation between weight loss and wealth gain
was in women. In
particular, white women who dropped 10 points on the body mass
index (BMI) saw a wealth increase, on average, of approximately
$11,880. Although it is impossible to tell across all of these cases whether
losing weight was the only influencing factor, the link has definitely
been shown. To ensure the results were not skewed by any particular
influences the participants gave information relating to savings,
stocks, bonds and other assets and outstanding debts were not taken
into account (to arrive at total net worth). The individuals were
also interviewed and wealth was surveyed over a period of 15 years,
with all participants being between 21 and 28 years old at the
beginning of the study.
The results
demonstrated that overall, a one unit increase in a person’s
BMI total could be attributed to a $1300 reduction in wealth
and a one unit decrease could be
worth up to a $4000
increase in wealth!
So if you needed
