New Study: Tap Water is Cancer Risk!

May 9th, 2006 · No Comments

Int. Journal of CancerA new study published in the International Journal of Cancer has found that there is an association between tap water and bladder cancer!

The study highlights include:

  • Data pooled from 6 case-control studies of bladder cancer with detailed information on fluid intake and water pollutants, particularly trihalomethanes (THM), and evaluated the bladder cancer risk associated with total and specific fluid consumption.
  • The analysis included 2,729 cases and 5,150 controls
  • An increased risk was associated with intake of tap water.
  • Those drinking 2 litres or more of tap water per day showed a higher risk among men
  • No increased risk was observed for the same intake of non-tap water in men
  • The association of bladder cancer with tap water consumption, but not with nontap water fluids, suggests that carcinogenic chemicals in tap water may explain the increased risk.

Gordon Bennett! - There is also bad news for coffee drinkers as the study found that: Increased bladder cancer risks were observed for an intake of >5 cups of coffee daily vs. <5 .

So what can we do?

Well, all Doctors and nutritionalists recommend that we drink at least 2-3 litres of water every single day, with some proposing that 4 litres is an optimal amount for our bodies to function correctly. This could obviously lead to problems if the quality of that water is poor and toxic.

I believe that the answer is to purify and alkalise your water, and that is certainly a route that I have taken for myself. I have highlighted the many benefits of alkaline water in previous articles (article on water distillers), and article on alkaline water) - and in order to fully purify and detoxify your water I cannot recommend a solution that is more convenient and cost effective than using a distiller.

Dr. Weil has it spot on when he talks about distilled water - and as I see it this is a great solution for providing pure, alkaline and safe drinking water.

Of course there are many other ways to make your tap water more pure, and I would strongly recommend that you find the solution that fits your needs and demands.
