Was going to be the THDBR but turned into a rant!

June 9th, 2006 · 4 Comments

In talking to Jim at Diet-Blog and Tanya at iateapie over the last couple of days it has only just really dawned on me this week how the THDBR fits very neatly into the goals I publicised a few days ago.

The THDBR is my attempt to publicise and share all of the great, lesser known blogs out there and build a community of bloggers who are passionate about health. Let’s face it - it is not easy for us to build a community in a world that is dominated by techie, geeky communication tools (I don’t expect the visitors of this blog to have to understand tagging, rss, digg or delicious) and where most of the community-building-networking only goes on between the blogging A-List/technorati top 100. Let’s face it, these tools are custom made for spreading the word and building the community for tech-based blogs, but for us health types, it is not so good.

So the challenge is for all of us health bloggers to come together, build our community, promote each other, engage each other in conversation, encourage others to blog, meet, greet, welcome and inspire.

Now go forth and blog!

What a refreshing perspective! I’m so glad to hear you say that. I don’t want people to just pop by my space once because of my tags. I want them to stop by daily because the information that I’m sharing and the “voice” I’m using to share it is beneficial to them. Thanks for the inspiration and for speaking up for all the little guys!

The Health and Diet blog roundup is a really good idea.

Are you familiar with the Carnival of the Capitalists? It’s a little like your roundup, except that it floats around from blog to blog, and the different people involved all get a chance to host it. I haven’t participated in it, but from the sidelines it seems like a good way to get some good community building going on.

    Hi Amber

Cheers for the positivity! I’m really hoping that between a few of us we can make a difference and get a strong and vibrant community going. I think the desire is there and that is the most important thing!

Thanks for stopping by! I have been checking out cafe physique a lot lately and I really love what you are doing over there!

    Have a great weekend

    Hey Bill!

Really nice of you to stop by (I know how busy you are!). I hadn’t seen the COTC before but it looks a really good idea. I have only just become aware of the blog carnival idea and Tanya at iateapie.net has just started a health carnival too that looks like it could really take off.

I really love the concept of the carnival floating around from blog to blog to get more and more people involved and connected - it is definitely something I am going to put some effort into.

Cheers again for taking the time to comment, its much appreciated.

    I hope you’ve had a great weekend
    Ross
