I am quite overtly against using any form of supplement that gives encourages people to lose weight with pills. Not only does it create delusional beliefs, but it also creates the impression that people can lose weight without changing their diet, nutrition or fitness levels.
Just to make my point clearly:
weight loss = nutrition + aerobic exercise + anerobic exercise
In other words:
weight loss = hard work and determination
NOT PILLS. Oh, and I am sure that it will not come as a surprise to learn that the big pharmaceuticals/distributors are behind all of the research being undertaken with, I believe, Pfizer and Unilever being the main proponents.
I am glad to see that the article in the telegraph comes to a fairly similar conclusion.
the answer to losing weight is not to be found in any pill, “natural” or otherwise. I don’t care whether an appetite suppressant is from a field or a factory, relying on something like that simply won’t work for those of us that are not morbidly obese or out of control.
The only way to lose weight is slowly: to learn about food and how to eat to create maximum energy; to eat well and exercise; and to cut calories by a tiny amount, maybe as little as 10 per cent, so as not to “alarm” the metabolism.
Resorting to tricks to help you or, worse still, to do it for you does nothing in the long run and I can almost guarantee that you will regain the weight. And more.
This is great advice and should be followed by anyone looking to lose weight.
Quick fixes do not work, EVER! Supplements are there to supplement. They are there to support your hard work, not do the hard work for you.
And besides, losing weight should really be seen as a by product of becoming more healthy, and gaining a more vital body, wellness and clarity. With this perspective, taking pills to do the work for you no longer becomes an attractive option.
