Health Blogs Round Up

by Ross on March 2, 2006

Since becoming involved and passionate about, firstly, health and then the web I have been reading more and more health and diet blogs on a daily/weekly basis. As I am geeky enough to do so (with the help of bloglines – a feed aggregator, see I said I was geeky) I thought it might benefit all of you if I saved you all the time of reading through the entire blogosphere by summarising the best posts and articles I have found.

So here it is, the first ‘Thursday Health and Diet Blog Round-up (THDBR):

  • Mark’s Got Too Fat Blog: Mark has decided to run a half-marathon in his efforts to kick-start his weight loss. I thought it would be good to post it here too to give him some more accountability! It is on June 4th up in sunny Blackpool. Good luck Mark!
  • Free Online Health Forums: Ray has posted a pretty motivating/disgusting picture of what 5kg of fat looks like! You will be surprised!
  • Mercola Blog: Dr. Mercola has posted some interesting stuff this week on his favourite subject of the evils of big pharmas. Although I don’t always agree with Dr Mercola’s views he is spot on with this, and you have to give the guy 110% credit for the fact that he always backs his arguments up with decent, well regarded papers, journals and research.
  • Time Health Blog: cheif health blogger at Time, Christine Gorman has been particularly interested in the Womens Health Initiatve (WHI) and has posted some very interesting thoughts as to the potential gold mine that the blood and DNA samples of the 161,808 participants in the WHI could be!

It has actually been a fairly slow week. Even Diet Girl seems to be down at the moment and she is always a treasure trove of great posts! But if you have blogged about something interesting this week, or have read an interesting post let me know in the comments below!
