Thursday’s Health & Diet Blog Round-up: THDBR #12

by Ross on June 1, 2006

I half didn’t go full out with last week’s THDBR and while it still added value I would like to apologise and make amends by scouring the web high, far, wide and long this week and bringing you the very best from the usual suspects alongside some new and interesting blogs I have stumbled upon.

THDBR

  • Big congrats and well-done’s to Boucing for Boobs – they have very nearly reached their target of $10k. Go have a read about this incredible altruistic journey and give Priscilla the support she needs to break through the last $1500!
  • Diet Blog are continuing to cement their position as the #1 health and weightloss blog in the world with another week of exceptional and heavy posting! Not only have they unearthed research which shows poor diet to be as bad as smoking but they have also reached their 10,000th comment this week! To put this in perspective, I have been doing this for about 6 months now and have about 50 comments. Way to go Jim. And in a quirky twist of fate, the 10,000th commenter just so happened to be Helena of BitterPoison.com – who I have recently been in blog-conversations with! Small world…
  • Fat Bitch is back on track! Congrats Holly! She also points to this intruiging article that has presumably surfaced in the English press after the recent spotlight on child obesity. It is a particularly disturbing article, but one that is also maddening at the same time. Have a look.
  • Karen gives us a nice almond hummous recipe!
  • Mark is back! and having lost 4lbs lately he is a very happy chap. Good on yer.
  • This is more of a hat tip to Fatty McBlog from a bloggers point of view than from a health point of view – but some very interesting questions are asked here. If you are a blogger, take a look!
  • Amyella reminds us that making big soups is a great way to boost our veggie intake for the morning, day, week etc! Always a good thing to remember – if you can’t be doing with so many veggies, just chuck em all in a big pot and drink ‘em!
  • And finally…Pierre (aka ekstreme) has got a really interesting science blog which covers health more often than not. I came across Pierre through completely non-health related forums, but am glad I did because his blog is really bloody interesting. Two recent posts I have enjoyed have been about the link between exercise and cancer and this post about an incredible photo of erosion in action (I know, not even losely health, apologies!)

Anyway, lots of bedtime reading for you there! Let me know your thoughts or if there were any other great blog posts out there that I missed (even if they are your own!)
