Thursday Health & Diet Blog Round-up (THDBR) #13

by Ross on June 9, 2006

OK, so after that minor rant-based-hold-up before, here is THDBR #13!

  • Gym Bunny: had mixed feelings on the Blackpool Half Marathon. I love this blog because I can relate to a hell of a lot of the trials and tribulations she faces training for a marathon. However, running aside theere are always lots of bits n pieces in there that are well worth a read.
  • Karen: inspiring post of the year contender alert! Karen makes some big and very brave decisions here. If you are feeling a little bit overwhelmed, underwhelmed or lacking direction - you have to read this post. It will all make sense.
  • RFR: discusses the MOST IMPORTANT thing about running - getting expert advice on the best shoes for your feet. In the Midlands (UK) I recommend Birmingham Runner (they fitted me my marathon runners), and in Australia I recommend The Athlete’s Foot - feel free to give your own suggestions!
  • Joseph: makes an excellent post highlighting research showing that vegetables are more effective at building bone density than drugs.
  • Helena: in a similar vein posts about two other new studies on osteoporosis. She also gives the sterling advice “Eat your greens and exercise!”
  • BeerBellyBlog: posts about the wonderous benefits of jogging backwards!
  • Pierre: has done a good job summarising some of the web’s most useful health resources - it is worth taking a look through these, particularly the last one he mentions ;)
  • Jim: and finally, makes a very interesting point about both the willingness of people to offer out diet advice and also the interrogation one recieves if they do lose some weight or get into shape!

More next week!
