Having looked around at some of the offers from UPW ticket sellers (it is a fairly dodgy world out there) I have started to notice that a few are trying to entice sales in with freely available information.
So I have decided to post links to things as I find them here for you.
- Tony Robbins Power of Momentum Workbook: yes, this is indeed priceless – but you don’t need to buy a ticket from anyone to access it. Tony gave it away free in an e-newsletter a while ago and I posted a link to it in our last post-UPW blog entry back in March. In case you missed it then – here it is: Power of Momentum.
- Think and Grow Rick eBook: there are quite a few offering this as an enticement – but again, this is publicly available information. And again – here it is!
I’m on the lookout for more, but these should hopefully get you started…

Hi again Eric
Thanks for the complement.
I have actually really enjoyed reading your posts and your perspective, it has been pretty refreshing so thanks for contributing.
I honestly want to say, hand on heart that my intention was not to create a negative campaign against anyone – neutral, maybe – but there is not negativity in this original post or anywhere else on this site towards any other person or their website. Like I originally said – if this stuff is available free elsewhere then anyone who is also offering this free will not feel any negative impact will they?
Regarding our profit margin – as you well know the margin ticket sellers get on UPW tickets is actually quite high. The low margin is due to our OWN reasons i.e. because of the money we have pumped back into our ticket package including the bags, free supps, water bottles, tshirts and other support – not because TR do not give a good margin. Looking around our site you will probably see that UPW tickets is not even 2% of what we do, which is why we are not concerned by the margin on our tickets one bit.
I think you and I just think about business differently – UPW to me is a chance to meet people, enjoy an experience and build a community – not to make as much money as possible. If that was our intention then we could have easily sold as many tickets without adding any extra value and made a fairly large sum of money in the process.
The images you are talking about confuses me – the only images we use with regards to UPW are those that were supplied by Tony Robbins Companies, our agent at TREE/Medwestern or that were taken ourselves during past UPW events.
And with regards to the copy/concepts stolen from our site – as I am sure you are aware – filling a DMCA complaint can take a lot of time and money, so instead of being concerned by copycat sites we just set out to do whatever we could that our visitors/customers would find most value from and then innovate, innovate, innovate wherever we could.
The 30% verbatim copy you talk about is only the event description that Tony Robbins Companies provides – so this does not concern me. We sell thousands of product lines with manufacturers descriptions and a lot of companies (TR included) actively discourage you from using anything other than their description anyway.
I also absolutely agree with your last point – about all of us working together – and I think this is the point to this whole conversation we are having, and I can assure you, that this would definitely be welcomed by us, but unfortunately as long as Tony Robbins & TREE have the distribution set up that they currently have then this is never likely to happen as all ticket sellers are set up to work for themselves, AGAINST, not WITH other ticket sellers.
And as long as we are not giving a monkeys about making money from the tickets this is obviously going to irk other ticket sellers and other agents.
It troubles me that I think you have misinterpreted my attitude on this issue, but there is little I can do about that other than to ask you to take a look around this blog and the main site at http://www.energiseforlife.com and see the goodness, support, help and community that we are working 24/7 to try and create.
I think we are actually singing the same tune, but just a bit out of time Eric.
I hope you have a great day, and a great week and thanks again for your thoughts
Ross
p.s. the tony-robbins.org site troubles me too, but it is only one man’s opinion
Hi Ross,
I like your writing style. you are a good writer. unfortunately your email is not accurate and now i understand why you are engaging in negative campaigns.
The negative campaign i can see is a result of your low profit margins as you have mentioned because clearly you are not a charity and you are in this as a business which means to MAKE MONEY. you seem to be desperate.
Lets not be shy or pretend about that. Even Tony Robbins admits that he is a business man and he is looking after his business. so because it is not profitable you pick a fight with your competitors that explains why the negative campaign.
i am not a competitor but just an observer who is sick and tired of all this negative nonsense when you guys should be positive. go have a look at this site and you can see why i am not impressed.
http://www.tony-robbins.org/
also your claim about the pictures is not true.
i know where some of those pictures on your site came from and as a matter of fact i know who created some of them so how can Tony Robbins lawyers give you clearance for pictures that do not belong to them. i used to work for Tree now med western so i know what i am saying as a fact.
listen mate. if you had accepted the simple fact that you were wrong to misinform your clients about freebies then all this would have stopped but you had to justify your point and make excuses.
i will tell you now i am impressed with the added value you are giving to your clients and from what i can see only two of you are doing that not even med western so i commend you.
however as Tony says you should not engage in negative campaigns.
if you are so sure and convinced that you site copy was stolen word for word then why don’t you take it up with the webmasters of the site in question.
Although to be honest looking at your site and 10 other Tony Robbins site at least 30% of all the wordings are the same verbatim word for word but in any case i feel you should still take it up with who ever you are accusing if what you say is right.
any way my advice to you is refrain from negative campaigns.
if you have a genuine complaint take it up with the individuals or organisation. what is the point complaining here when they may not even know and finally i think med western is having a laugh because you all buy your tickets from them and yet they manage to make sure you stay separated. talk about divide and conquer.
you guys do not even know the power you command if you work together. you may wonder how i know about this.
well well well.
it was my job to manage most of you agents and trust me most of you are really naive to see the best. like i said i worked for med western or should i say TREE
alright Ross my fight is not with you but with your attitude and on that note i say good bye and
Namaste
Eric
Hi Eric
Your comments are confusing me.
Strangely enough I do not see what your point is here – if others are doing it for free too, then hey that’s cool, consumers are not stupid as you rightly point out – and if they see great value elsewhere that I really hope they make the decision that is best for them and buy elsewhere. Every ticket seller will be offering a different consumer experience at the event and that, in all honesty, is what will matter the most – and that is the crux of what we are trying to focus upon.
The only challenge I ever faced in was when we came into this market with the sole purpose of creating a team, and a community with the people who came to UPW with us. Our ‘Team Energise’ idea was not a marketing ploy. Think beyond tickets and profit margins for a second. This was the concept that I can promise is unique and was pilfered. And again, please don’t get bogged down in the financial aspect of this – losing sales etc did not bother me one bit – but the fact that the copy and ideas were lifted word for word significantly devalued what we were trying to achieve because I am wary that others might not be able to offer the support that we are promising – and this negates the value for all of us.
I am being absolutely straight down the line here with you bud – we are not making a penny from selling UPW tickets. The package that we put together is costing us every penny that we are making. I’m not sure how you are not seeing this – but we are not doing this to make cash. Even if we were making a margin on these tickets, it would represent about 2% of what we do.
And I think that this is the concern that other ticket sellers might be having when they look at our site. The bags, t-shirts, water bottles etc have cost us more than the profits the tickets generate. What would be left of that margin is being spent on providing limitless nutritional supplements to people during the event and making sure that we take a team of as many of our staff as possible to provide support and cammaraderie. And no are supplements are not little samples – it is as much as you need of whatever you want to keep you energised through the event – so please don’t try to throw that one at us.
I think the mindset you need to get out of in this situation is that of money and one-up-man-ship.
I would like to point out again, there is not a link, phone number, order form or any sales enticement in this blog post. And you seem to be forgetting that this is all it is – a blog post. In fact, I would easily estimate that 80% or more of the people who have read this post would not have even known that we sell tickets unless you had pointed it out.
I apologise for not responding within the 11hrs of your first post. It is beautiful weather here in Australia at the moment and yesterday I was spending some time walking around the botanical gardens with a good friend.
The only pictures and copy we have used in our pages that can be seen elsewhere is the material that we have recieved directly from Tony Robbins’ marketing team themselves. We have been authorised to use his image and his site images by his legal team.
Mate, you keep mentioning envy, jealousy, negativity, desparation and all of these words, but I thought my first response to your posts highlighted my position on this. If the site you are talking about is giving these things away free too – then great – there is no problem. In fact our conversation could, and should, have ended after our first posts.
Also you keep refering to ‘our competitor’ and this makes it sound a lot like you either are, or have a vested interest in another ticket seller. If you know of a seller who is offering these items for free then there is no problem for us or them.
Sorry I am at a loss as to why you are so hurt by this post – but I can see that you have got positive intention and I can see that in between the digs at me and my company you are trying to do good – so I still give you a cap tip for that mate.
I hope you have had a good weekend wherever you are Eric
Yours confused,
Ross
Hi Ross,
i noticed you did not answer my comments and you cleverly avoided it. my point is that no one is offering the freebee as an enticement for sale. the other sites are giving it away for free just like you.
the fact is your statement above is misleading and rather than try to justify your self and even dig more dirt just admit it is misleading and rectify it.
you claim to me a man of high morals so you might as well practice what you preach.
you talk about copy your ideas. i have seen pictures, ideas, themes, words, logos you blatantly copied from other sites so remove the speck in your eyes before removing the log from your brothers eyes because those who live in glass houses do not throw stones.
my advice to you is mind your own business and pay attention to your business rather than wanting to be Mr police when in reality you have a vested interest in your biased analysis of your competitors site.
i noticed you just started offering Cd’s and i know you definitely copied that idea just as you got the idea of the safe logo.
hey i advice you give proper Cd’s and not products Anthony Robbins gives for FREE any way.
Ross the truth is that all these competitors started well before you and you copied their idea and now you are trying to be Mr do it right when in reality you are acting just like them or in some cases even worse by thrashing the competion. Tony Robbins teaches never thrash your competition and worse of all never make false claims about your competitions. it shows you are desperate.
the only difference is that you pretend other wise and spend your time and energy to trash the competition.
Your site is laid with sales topic and the nutritional samples you are giving out is designed to sell your products like every one else so why pretend you are different.
people are not stupid you know.
anyway this is taking too much of my time already and i do not intend in joining you in negative campaigns all in the name of personal development.
i am an outside observer and makes me laugh when i see how desperate and how low you are willing to go.
Grow up enlighten up and dont spread negativity.
Spread peace and love and division
Eric
there is a saying that goes those who leave in glass houses do not throw stones and remove the log in your eyes before you remove the speck in your brothers eyes. obviously you know if you name names that is not professional and my point was no body is offering those free information to entice sale.
i have not seen any site that says you must buy a ticket before you get those free bonuses so my point is that your post at the top is misleading and you still did not address it in your mail. you know it is misleading and rather than justify your actions just admit it and rectify it.
hey you talk about copy how about how you have practically lifted pictures, ideas and themes from other sites selling Tony Robbins tickets and used them on your site like it belongs to you and also i have noticed how your offers are similar to other sellers and they started selling long before you did so in essence you are going into the market and copying what other sellers have been doing.
look at the high street almost every shop has a for sale sign at the door and if you see one you have seen them all. does that mean they are copying each other or they understand it is business.
i am sure they understand it is business and that is why they are not at each others neck.
you act like the world belongs to you and you seem to be super self righteous.
hey it is a big market out there and admit it just like every one else when you see a good idea you copy it immediately just like i can see you now have new safe logo which is similar to your competitors. is that not copying?
MY POINT IS LIVE AND LET LIVE and don’t think you are different from the other sellers because you are all doing the same thing to each other and don’t moan about it just accept it is business.
you tried to copy other sites and differentiate your self but in reality you are doing the same.
i see you are now offering cds and books and i know you did not start doing that did you? you have definitely copied that idea from your competitor.
i am just watching you guys and having a laugh because you are acting directly opposite to what Tony Robbins preaches.
spread peace and love not division, jealousy and envy.
Hi Eric
Thanks for your thoughts. I really like your post and I can completely understand how you feel – and we honestly are trying to do everything we can to be as useful as we can.
If we were trying to be negative we would be naming names and all sorts – that is not the intention of this post – this post is aimed to ensure that people have free access to free information. If this was about sales we would have a big advert here and a link to buy tickets and all sorts I think – especially given the hits that this post has received over the past few days.
There are many very dodgy ticket sellers out there and we are trying to create, we are trying to be as generous as possible and we are trying to do as much as we can to make the weekend as much of an exceptional experience for people as possible. There is a very fine line between trying to be useful and then coming across as the same as everyone else out there and it is a tricky balance.
Unfortunately in creating and being creative – our offers, words and concepts are copied – literally word for word by other sellers. Still, c’est la vie – we just keep on creating as much as we can!
I hope that this post did not offend you too much and that my response has helped to reiterate our position and point of view.
Thanks again Eric – your sentiments are definitely appreciated
Have a great day
Ross
having looked around i have not seen any seller offering what you say above to entice sales. as a matter of fact they are offering it freely just like you are doing. i am amazed at how you guys who claim to be positive decide to engage in negative campaings just because you are all competing with each other. create not compete and be generous not enviuos. thanks
Eric
