Hello again. I have decided to make this weeks THDBR a bit different. Not for any particular reason, but just because…well…variety is the spice of life. Or something to that effect.
Anyway, I have recently been a little more active over at Steve Pavlina’s forums and I belatedly ran across this thread where forum members post about their own blog. I really loved this thread because a) it is another startling reminder of how many of us are now blogging our thoughts and trying to help others and improve ourselves through blogging. I LOVE that this communication tool has become SO accessible! And b) because it shows that a bit of self-promotion in a forum can be a good thing - so many forums are ban-happy whenever people try to promote their own work and it drives me nuts.
Anyway, so as I was going through the thread it struck me that SOOOO many of the members there have got really great blogs - so I thought I would help them all out a bit by pointing my faves out to all of you guys and gals. The only negative of so many of us blogging is that it is sometimes hard to be heard, and as I am getting a fair few hundred readers every day now I see it as a great thing that it gives me the chance to share and spread the word on other great blogs.
So here they are, and I will call it: The Best of the Best of the Steve Pavlina Forum (or TBOTBOTSPF for short)
- This is in no particular order, but first up is Fourth Dan, which is a nice personal dev. blog but also has the personal slant that the blog charts the journey towards becoming a taekwando master too! Also, a lovely design - you wouldn’t have recognised it as a blogspot blog.
- Bruce Hopkins has a nice blog on Internet Marketing (IM). What I like about it is that it is simple, straightforward and covers the basics very very well. It’s kinda like the Delia Smith of IM blogs. I hope Bruce doesn’t take offence at that! If you are into IM then you should check it out for sure.
- Next up is Jennifer with Broke-Ass Student and I have to say, I have instantly fallen in love with this blog. It’s funny how sometimes you get people who are just excellent and entertaining writers from the off. I have been blogging hard all year and I am still a bit crap!
- Scott has an excellent, excellent strength training blog over at Straight to the Bar. I know he has been feeling the pain about the cricket too, so pay him a visit, leave him a comment and cheer him up.
- Spiritual River is a well thought out, hard working blog about recovery from addiction. Whether you are recovering or not it is still a place where there is plenty of learning to be done.
- I’ve linked up to Life Coaches Blog before, but I am chuffed to find out that Alivn, one of the authors is a member at Steve’s forum
- Paul Piotrowski’s blog is another personal development gem. I particularly like articles like this one on How to Create a Vision for Your 6 Life Categories. Like Steve, he writes long, detailed and huge value posts. Brilliant stuff.
- Michael of .love.laugh.learn.live. blogs on a range of subjects such as meditation, family, technology and health. One of those blogs that is well worth subscribing to because you never know what tips and advice you are going to get each day.
- And finally, Lil’ Duck! Our paths cross again! Small world - I still love this blog, the way it is written, the photography and the subject matter. A very cool blog.
Go check ‘em all out, and if you are on the list above then stop by and stay hi! I would love to connect!

Well, hello there!! Thanks for the mention, I needed to add you to my Bloglines anyway ;).
Hi,
You hit right up to the bull’s eye. Bravo.
Alfred Chew
straighttothebar is a very good collection of information. I refer some of our members to read up some… Have to dig a bit to find the right moves but there is definitely information for the non-proportional readers too!
Thanks for the mention. I did not even know who Delia Smith was. I’m still not sure, looks like some recipe person. Does not bother me, because tha tis one of the purposes of the blog. There is so much junk out their about IM and everyone wants to sell something to someone else, I hope with this blog to put out some good information on this subject. I have a lot of content and how to’s planned and will post as soon as I get the time to write them.
Bruce
Hey Bruce!
Heh - it is a complement mate, no question about that! Delia is known for teaching people how to get things right and if you follow what she says you just can’t fail!
You are doing a great job with the blog mate and I look forward to seeing some of those unwritten masterpieces!
Have a great weekend,
Ross
Thanks Ross, She looks kind of interesting. My wife is starting to make me cook more so I need ideas
Question, which is off topic, What is the name of the plugin you have for the captcha images. I would love to turn off comment moderation, but I can’t becuase of the spammers.
Bruce
Hi Bruce
You can’t go wrong with Delia!
For the captcha I use the first from this list: http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Spam_Tools#Captcha but there are probably better ones out there.
To be fair though - I have had spam reduced from at least a dozen a day to less than one per month with that plugin.
Cheers mate
Ross
