The Awesome Alkaline Benefits of Wheatgrass

wheatgrass shotWheatgrass is one of the most potently healthy substances on earth. Yet for some reason it is still not mainstream – even though there are thousands of wheatgrass benefits that are so clear and felt so quickly. Since I’ve been using wheatgrass I’ve noticed my energy levels go sky high, my skin clear up and colds, coughs and illnesses disappear forever – and these are just a few of the great benefits of using wheatgrass that I’ve noticed! Others have seen their gray hairs vanish, Rosacea clear up, bad breath subside, allergies clear up and a whole lot more.

Wheatgrass has such an immediate and noticable effect on how you feel and look because:

  • 30mls of freshly squeezed wheatgrass juice (a wheatgrass shot!) is equivalent in nutritional value to 1kg of leafy green vegetables
  • Wheatgrass contains over 90 minerals, including high concentrations of the most alkaline minerals: potassium, calcium, magnesium and sodium
  • It contains the essential enzymes: Protease (assists in protein digestion), Cytochrome Oxidase (a powerful anti oxidant), Amylase (facilitates digestion), Lipase (a fat splitting enzyme), Transhydrogenase (strengthens the heart muscle) & Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) (found in all body cells and is known for its ability to lessen the effect of radiation and slow cellular aging)
  • Just one teaspoon of Wheat Grass powder, weighing a mere 3.5 grams, is nutritionally equal to an entire spinach salad weighing a full 50 grams – it packs a punch!
  • Wheatgrass has more vitamin C than oranges and twice the vitamin A as carrots!
  • Wheat grass juice helps your body to build red blood cells which carry oxygen to every cell. By increasing the oxygenation the body you can help offset smog and carbon monoxide and increase your endurance during physical exercise
  • It also contains 19 amino acids, the building blocks of protein making this one of the most powerful wheatgrass benefits

Wheatgrass Explained

Alkaline Recipe BookBefore I get onto where and how to get wheatgrass, I’m going to list out the four main reasons why I love wheatgrass so much:

  1. Reason to Love Wheatgrass #1: Wheatgrass Builds Blood: Many health experts including Dr Young (pH Miracle) and Steve Meyerowitz (Nature’s Finest Medicine) have highlighted that the chlorophyll molecule in wheatgrass is almost identical to the haemoglobin molecule in human blood. The only difference is that the central element in chlorophyll is magnesium and in haemoglobin it is iron.

Due to this inherent similarity the human body can easily transform chlorophyll into haemoglobin increasing the red blood cell count as well as the blood’s capacity to deliver oxygen and other nutrients to the body’s cells (Hagiwara, 1985) .

Chlorophyll has been shown to build red blood cells quickly, normalise blood pressure by dilating the blood pathways though out the body, destroy poisonous carbon dioxide, release free oxygen and promote higher metabolism and stimulated enzyme systems. On top of all of these benefits, consuming chlorophyll from wheatgrass is a highly effective way to alkalise the blood and energise the body!

  2. Reason to Love Wheatgrass #2: Wheatgrass Cleanses the Body: Wheatgrass is an extremely beneficial food in terms of both its cleansing capabilities. The contents of wheatgrass juice and powder (green drink) are reported to be within the region of approximately 100 separate elements with scientists dubbing it a ‘complete food’. According to ‘The Wheatgrass Book’ (Wigmore, 1985), just 140g of fresh wheatgrass offers the same nutritional value as over 3kg’s of fresh green vegetables! Thats a great way to get your daily fresh vegetable quota rocking – all from one wheatgrass shot.

Wheatgrass is a great source of vitamins B, C, E and carotene which are hugely effective in destroying and eliminating free radicals and cleansing the body. Wheatgrass is also highly regarded for its ability to cleanse the blood, organs and gastrointestinal tract.

Because it is also high in saponin, wheatgrass offers excellent support to the lymphatic system, helping to carry away hundreds and thousands of toxins from the cells of the body. Kulvinskas (Survival into the 21st Century, 1975) wheatgrass helps to ‘detoxify the body by increasing the elimination of hardened mucous, crystallised acids and solidified, decaying faecal matter…It is the fastest, surest way to eliminate internal waste and provide an optimum nutritional environment’.

These are just some of the cleansing wheatgrass benefits, and I have barely scratched the surface with regards to listing its nutritional content. Put most simply, whether you are looking to undertake a formal cleanse, or simply try to add more nutrition to your diet – these reasons alone are enough to consider adding wheatgrass to your daily lifestyle.

  3. Reason to Love Wheatgrass #3: Wheatgrass Has High Amino Acid Content:: You may have heard the expression before that – amino acids are the building blocks of protein. They are absolutely essential to our growth and cell regeneration. It is the astonishingly high amino acid content in wheatgrass that is leading to many bodybuilders and gym-goers incorporating fresh (a wheatgrass shot) or wheatgrass powder into their daily routine.

Wheatgrass benefits are so impactful because it is a complete protein and contains, amongst others, the following amino acids: arginine, serine, absenisic, lysine, aspartic acid, glycine, alanine, methionine, leucine, tryptophane, phenylalanine, and valine.

  4. Reason to Love Wheatgrass #4: Wheatgrass Fights and Protects Against Illness: Organic wheatgrass powders and juices are an extremely effective way of boosting the body’s immune system to fight against and recover from illnesses and ailments. Wheatgrass is a great source of beta carotene, contains most of the B vitamins and vitamins C, E, H and K, and also contains over 90 different minerals and 19 amino acids. It also contains several active enzymes which play a major role in breaking down fats, undertaking biological functions and assist hugely in weight loss. Of the 90 minerals found, many of these are very alkalising and include calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and iron.

Many of the health benefits of wheatgrass stem from the fact that it is a living food. Being highly anti-bacterial, consuming wheatgrass will help to alkalise and detoxify the lymph and blood cells, helping the body to rebuild and transport toxins out of the body quickly and effectively.

Again, coming back to the chlorophyll content of wheatgrass – this can protect the body from carcinogens more effectively than any other food. Studies conducted on animals have shown that wheatgrass consumption has reduced the absorption of a number of very serious carcinogens whilst strengthening cells, detoxifying the liver and neutralising polluting elements within the blood.

But I thought wheat was acidifying?

Good question. The simple answer is: wheat is acidifying. The fully grown, harvested, stored, milled and prepared wheat plant is highly acidifying. But as with almost every grain, when sprouted it is very alkaline, and this is certainly the case with wheatgrass.

Do not worry about wheatgrass being acidifying, it really, really isn’t!

How and Where to Get Wheatgrass in Your Daily Life

There are three main ways to incorporate wheatgrass into your life. There are pro’s and con’s (sort of) of each, and getting a bit of each is probably best to get the full and awesome wheatgrass benefits explained above!

Wheatgrass Supplements

Wheatgrass (and other grass) supplements are powdered greens, condensed down, that you simply mix with water and drink! There are many, many, grass supplements out there so make sure you pick one that works for you. Here are my main tips to make sure you’re getting a good one, and after that it is really down to taste!

  • Make sure it is organic
  • Make sure it is powdered juice, not just powdered plant
  • Make sure it isn’t heat-dried
  • Make sure there are no fruits or sweeteners added
  • Make sure it doesn’t contain spirulina or any other algae, which are acidifying

It is also good to aim for a mix of grasses, alongside wheatgrass to get an even wider range of health benefits.

Here are my top three wheatgrass supplements:

Sweet Wheat: This is the original and probably the best organic freeze dried wheatgrass powder on the market.

The best wheatgrass powder benefit is that it contains ONLY the juice and provides an extraordinary balance of all the vital nutrients and minerals the body can use. One teaspoon of Sweet Wheat is roughly equivalent to one to two ounces a fresh wheatgrass shot. One ounce of wheatgrass juice equals the nutritional equivalent of 1.5 pounds of organic vegetables.

Dr Young’s pH Miracle Greens: Dr Young is the world authority on the alkaline diet, so when he makes supplements, you tend to sit up and notice. This is a 5th generation green drink (he created the 1st too – SuperGreens) containing high quantities of wheatgrass, alongside barley grass, shave grass, dog grass and the powdered juice of vegetables such as broccoli, celery, spinach and more.

This stuff works, it gives you a real buzz and it tastes light, fresh and summery!

MegaGreens: a highly concentrated blend of 34 superfoods, 17 amino acids, vegetables, minerals, vitamins, omega oils, enzymes and more that will completely revolutionise your training. The dense hit of nutrients from each serve delivers instant and sustained energy and provides your body with the tools it needs for weight loss, muscle growth, rehydration, repair and replenishment.

By infusing your body with easily absorbed nutrients, omega oils & amino acids (and with only 3 calories per serve) Mega Greens gives your body the fuel it needs to burn fat and build muscle.

Fresh Wheatgrass

Buying your wheatgrass fresh from a juice bar is also a great way to get your wheatgrass health fix! Make sure they snip and juice the grass right in front of you though! I’ve seen some sneaky bars in Sydney having it delivered, already juiced! Pretty much all of the benefits are gone if you don’t have it fresh.

Having your wheatgrass freshly juiced is a great way to feel the instant energy hit, it is so noticeable!

Growing Your Own Wheatgrass

And finally, you can grow and juice your own! This is great fun, not all that time consuming, and not all that expensive either! All you need are:

  • Some space
  • Wheatgrass seeds
  • Sprouting trays or an automatic sprouter (such as an EasyGreen)
  • Patience
  • A pair of scissors
  • A masticating or manual juicer
  • In that order.

Note, you can’t grow wheatgrass in a standard sprouter (such as this) and you can’t juice wheatgrass in a standard juicer (such as this). But having said that, the masticating juicers (such as this Hurom) are far better quality in my opinion anyway, you you’re better off buying one of these anyway.

So there you have it! Can you think of any reason not to start having your daily wheatgrass juice? The benefits and ease of use make it a pretty simple decision!

I squeeze 2 grapefruits and 2kiwis and also add wheatgrass daily.. The time frame making is around 5:30am put on ice to chill… Now I don’t drink until around 12:00pm which is 6hours since… My question is do I loose any vitamins from time frame to start till actually drinking? Should I drink as soon as squeeze and prepare, is there a difference?

Leone Evrenos February 27, 2014 at 5:28 pm

Since adding organic New Zealand wheatgrass powder to my freshly made fruit and veg juices I can honestly say it’s the best remedy for my constipation. I have a sluggish system and have tried various over the counter remedies and have found they nearly always gave me cramping. I have now found the right amount for me personally which is one tablespoon in a large glass every 3-4 days. I don’t suffer from bloating or discomfort anymore. Does anyone know if there’s any difference in the wheatgrass from China? it’s cheaper, that’s all I know.

Robin April 23, 2014 at 4:23 pm

As to slow digestion; try upping your fiber intake. I’ve found 2 Tablespoons flaxMEAL mixed with about 1/4 cup orange juice works like a charm. Also moving around gets the system working well.

As far as Chinese wheatgrass; you’re not looking for cheaper when it comes to your health- you’re aiming for health. The closer your source the better, and if you’re talking aboutt powder just remember- there is no-one who checks the purity of things that come from other countries and there have been a lot of products from China that have been filled with all sorts of unhealthy substances- some which have seriously endangered people’s and animals lives.

Hi! ! Absolutely! I take it that you are using organic wheatgrass seeds? The wheatgrass shot naturally has a strong powerful taste, but the sweetness generally comes from organic seeds :) I grow wheatgrass and use non gmo organic seeds and my product always comes up very sweet and tasty! Goodluck! Follow Wheatgrass Women on Facebook for more info!

I am 38 years old and found out about two years ago that I am HIV positve. I was with a man for 6 years who knew he was HIV positve and gave it to me on purpose.
When I was first diagnosed I was in an AIDS diagnosis due to my viral load of 3 million. I should have died. I started juicing and using everything green and then added wheat grass into my diet. Two years later my viral load is UNDETCTABLE. And my doctor who I have to now see every six monthes is amazed, ( as am I). I contribute it to my juicing everything green including Wheat grass as well as eating and juicing Bitter Mellon. (another amazing plant). Drink this daily and your body will love you, and you will love the way You feel

smartman April 25, 2013 at 1:06 pm

Wheatgrass seems like a positive role for any human consumption. My only concern is if this plant has common allergy problems. Other than that, I would love to try a shot, or two, of Wheatgrass.

Kym March 29, 2013 at 6:40 am

I don’t know if anyone else has asked this question, but is it fine to take mixed in with my yogurt and muesli at breakfast, or sprinkled on top of my salad and mixed to moisten? In other words, do I still gain the benefit from it if I don’t take it in a totally liquid drinkable form? Is there any way that one should not consume it? For instance, I wouldn’t put it in soup while cooking, but is it okay to sprinkle it on top once it’s in the bowl, or does any warming harm it? It really does taste unpleasant on its own, and I only drink water. I’ve found it’s much more palatable using it the other ways I described. Thanks.

Daleena May 16, 2013 at 11:01 am

Yes!!! You can mix it with yogurt. I would try the plain greek Yogurt due to the probiotic benefits of it. Add a bit of palm sugar which will not spike your glucose levels like refined sugar, but if you can’t get palm sugar try a touch of honey or i a smoothie. You as well can absolutly put in on your salad or mix it in with your soup. But DO NOT COOK IT. I hope this helps, and God bless and good luck to you.

fudgeman March 20, 2013 at 3:01 pm

is it possible to just add wheatgrass to a smoothie or do I HAVE to juice it? for instance, I know that NOW brands makes a SOD supplement that is just dried wheatgrass. sooo…..why not just buy some frozen grass from costco and just throw it in a smoothie? or just take some and put it in a blender? is that bad?

I am now coming off a bout of viral infection that caused vomiting and severe diarrhoea (5 days x approx. 30 times a day). Should I commence the use od Wheat Grass Powder in my daily diet? I normally use one teaspoon of the powder with my tea or coffee on mornings. What’s the best way that it should be used in this case?
Orlando Stephen

Jenny August 12, 2013 at 5:46 am

Wheatgrass should not be taken with coffee. Coffee is very acidic and would
Defeat the health benefits. Fresh is always best on an empty stomach so your blood can quickly absorb it. Powder is not the same, but still not good to take with coffee.

Tom August 30, 2013 at 10:53 pm

I’m just about to start harvesting my first wheatgrass… I generally make a “green juice” every morning.. kale, celery, cucumbers etc.. I plan to simply add “some” fresh cut wheatgrass with this.. is there such a thing as “too much?” I’m picturing a handful at most.. I know like most grasses I’ll be able to continue harvesting well into the fall..
Thanks in advance!

I just posted a comment and I am frustrated by the typos because of the Facebook/Tweet box thingy that obscures the dialog box. One can’t see what one is typing. It detracts from the enjoyment of commenting to your great website. It is a total putoff.

Ross February 13, 2012 at 6:33 am

Mark Leland February 10, 2012 at 2:42 am

I really enjoy your website and all of the information therein. I do have something nagging me and I hope that you may clear it up. I am beginning to grow my own Wheatgrass. I am intrigued by the Wheatgrass suppliment powders that you mention. I know that to get max beneits from the Wheatgrass, I must consumrthe juice within 5 min. of extracting it from my press. How then, I wonder, do they maintain all of the goodness when it is processed into a powder or some other venue for consumption? Also, how are they able to determine the potency of such products? I would be terribly anxious to try these products if I could be convinced of their efficacy. Thank you. Oh, by the way, there is a terribly annoying little bar with a Facebook and Tweet thingy that obscures part of this dialog box that is a total turnoff. Please move it to another location. Thanks.

Wheatgrass is wonderful for your skin as well! I have been using a wheatgrass skincare line by Vitale Skin, http://www.vitaleskincare.com. It makes my skin look amazing. I also drink wheatgrass 2-3 x’s per week. I am building up slowly but can already see an improvement on my energy levels!

Karen December 12, 2011 at 7:47 pm

I don’t understand why you can say that spirulina is acidifying..? Even on Dr Young’s website HE says to take spirulina because it is alkalinzing!

gina November 21, 2011 at 7:49 pm

I use spulirina and chrollophly take one shot in the morning and the other shot in the evenning. I am wondering if I can add wheat grass to my daily regime. Now that I understand that spirulina is acidifying and cannot be mixed ith wheat grass. chlorophlly has being a really good detoxifier and deodarant at the same time.

Ross November 24, 2011 at 12:33 am

Hi Gina

I definitely recommend adding wheatgrass to the mix. Glad you’re going great with the chlorophyll – it’s such a simple thing but it gets such good results.

nick November 9, 2011 at 9:33 pm

I buy wheatgrass from local shop in Wicklow, Ireland. Its freshly grown by monks (Servants of love) and I juice it myself. Now when i drink it, it has that strong grass taste at first then a slight sweetness to the aftertaste. Does this mean that the grass has somehow been sweetened? or is this the natural taste? why is it bad if it is sweetened?please reply. :)

Keila December 7, 2011 at 6:48 pm

Nick, it could be, but they should explain this to you, since you are their customer!!!!!! They should be more than happy to tell you how they prepare their wheatgrass, and why it taste the way it does!!!!
This is some info I have gotten on wheatgrass. Wheatgrass, if it is cut too early, will be extremely sweet; in addition to being sweet, the grass hasn’t reached it’s nutritional peak yet. If you wait too long to harvest the wheatgrass, it will taste very bitter. The best time to cut wheatgrass in order to have the highest nutritional content with the best taste, comes from grass cut when it is about 6-10 inches tall. Good luck in finding out the truth!!!

I suffer from severe nerve damage due to growths in my spinal cord, caused by a birth defect. I’ve been on a raw vegetable-heavy vegan diet for several years and have been juicing like crazy for about six months. Ive noticed a big difference in the nausea and fatigue caused by neurological disturbances and meds from wheatgrass (about three ounces a day, in addition to 16 ounces of green juice and 6 ounces of lemon, garlic, cayenne combo juice). Also, my skin looks fantastic. I’m having a difficult time finding info on juices that can ease chronic pain and spasms associated with spinal cord injury. Anyone have suggestions? 26 year old female.

Roger August 16, 2011 at 4:48 am

Hi Laura,

Why do you have to look for food supplement in a juice form? Maybe that is not the answer to your problem. I have a cousin who had a severe chronic pain on her back that made her immobilized for several months. I ask her to try AFA in capsules, about 2 capsules in single serving and in less than a week the pain was gone. Now she could even travel in different countries.

I learned that it is only AFA that could release more adult stem cells naturally from our own bone marrow. These stem cells takes care in regenerating new cells in various organs of our body.

If you want to know more about AFA, try visiting these websites:

If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email. Glad to be of help.

Janae May 11, 2011 at 2:05 am

I am a RDH I would guess the reason for the clearing up of bad breath is due to the vitamins and nutrients needed to keep the connective tissue (gums) healthy. Vitamin C is essential to keep the gumd healthy! Fun Fact: Sailors were called Limeys because they would take citrus fruit to avoid scurvy. (sure they had no enamel left but healthy gums!)

Please do some research on Google for “Marine Phytoplankton”. This seems to be the miracle cure-all, especially for cancer and also problems associated with the brain. There are sites with many testimonials from people who had cancer and were cured.

Good luck to all.

Hi – unfortunately I am legally unable to answer any questions that relate to a specific condition or medication. I recommend that you check our Dr Young’s youtube channel as he discusses specific conditions there in some depth (http://www.youtube.com/user/pHMiracleCenter). Apologies.

can i add wheatgrass to freshly squeezed fruit to kill the taste

Sarah January 28, 2011 at 7:20 am

I take mine every morning with orange juice :)

Ross April 7, 2011 at 9:50 am

Hi Michael,
Wheatgrass is highly alkaline and you can freely add that to any freshly squeezed fruit. To make it more alkaline make sure that the fruit that you are going to use is low in sugar.

Maria October 23, 2010 at 1:27 am

I’m very happy to hear you are doing well. You should be commended for researching other things to help yourself cure from cancer. I truly believe that this is a remarkable product that has countless benefits. To bad something as wonderful as this is not available in our hospitals, to help other heal. IA, chemo and radiation are not very effective, and really do weaken the immune system. I read a book on chemo, and we know carcinegons cause cancer, and chemo is cytotoxic drugs, so basically the book says why would you use something to cure cancer when it gives you cancer. This is an incredible story, and am glad you are continuing the road to good health. Sometimes we are so brainwashed into thinking that it is effective, and sometimes we are degraded for looking into other treatments. Cheers Kristen, I guess we will have to settle for wheatgrass, although I’d prefer red wine, which is also beneficial for the heart.

Maria October 18, 2010 at 3:05 am

To the posters above, yes wheatgrass will be very benefical as you are going through chemo and radation. It will allow your body all the nutrients it needs, and also those treatments will not have such a gruelling affect on your body. To the poster wgose mom has cancer, yes wheatgrass will definitely benefit your mom. Another juice that is in close relation to wheatgrass is barley grass juice. A lot of juice bars don’t carry this one for some reason, but it has the same incredbile benefits, and well as E3 live is also another good one, that has even more chlorphyll than wheatgrass. The women who first founded wheatgrass was Ann Wigmore, and she was diagonised with colon cancer. She started on green juice, but more importantly focused on wheatgrass and was cancer free within one year. The tragic thing was she didn’t die of cancer, but died in a house fire. how tragic, but because of her discovery she has helped countless people.

Kirsten October 14, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer which had metastasized to my liver in lungs back in February of 2010. I have been staying at the Optimum Health Institute in San Diego for the last three months, and a couple of weeks ago I had a live blood cell analysis and the cancer is gone from my body. The mainstay of the program is the wheatgrass. We juice it ourselves and drink 4 ounces a day. We also do colonics and enemas, and do an “implant” of wheatgrass afterwards which is simply putting the wheatgrass up your other end and trying to hold it. That cleanses the liver and replaces the electrolytes lost in the enema or colonic. I truly believe wheatgrass can help the body heal from anything. It one of the best kept secrets! I hope this post gets out to those who need it. Cancer is curable — Please do not do chemo and radiation — those will weaken your immune system. Supplements like wheatgrass will help to strengthen the immune system to help the body heal itself. One must also have strong faith that healing is possible — don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!!!

Amber January 7, 2011 at 3:34 am

I am so happy for you!!!

rollie carada October 8, 2010 at 8:17 am

I was under a diet program wherein 3 dosages of wheat grass is prescribed for intake a day. It improves my vowel movement and eliminates faecal wastes in my system. I am diabetic and takes 40units of insulin and oral medication (metfornid 500mgm a day).
Since taking the wheat grass my blood sugar drastically decrease thereby reducing my medications. Amazingly, it also reduced my weight. Gone is my craving for red meat and sweets which are harmful to our health.

I love wheat grass. i go the my local juice bar, and get shots of it about 3 times a week. Man, does it taste strong, but I feel great after drinking it. It has so many beneficial things to it. I’m to lazy to make it on my own, but it is some great stuff. Wheat grass is also a powerful liver cleaner. I even introduced wheat grass to my dad, and he says he feels great after drinking it. Taking care of ourselves today, will reap all the rewards tomorrow. Cheers All!!!!

Juan Carlos March 2, 2010 at 1:27 am

P.S. I forgot to mention, I was already on a coffee and green tea regimen for about two months and have lost about 5 lbs. My waiste line has not felt so trim in years! I have been able to get back into my,”skinny jeans,” that were collecting dust for more than 7 years! Adding wheat grass I hope will help in the leaner body.

Juan Carlos March 2, 2010 at 1:21 am

I have started taking a lrg. shot of wheat grass, fresh, from a juice bar, cut in front of me, from the tray! So far about 4 days, along w/venti green tea. I also include in my morning regimen, lrg. cup plain oatmeal, one lrg. bananna, a lrg. bold coffee. For lunch a light meal. Thoughout the remainder of the day and through the night, 6 oz. pomagranate jucie, 8 oz. orange juice, a light to moderate dinner. I end the night w/a source of high of acidophilus, and a high source of yogurt, containing enzymes which promotes in my digestion. Needless to say I suffer greatly from gastro-intestenal maladies, for which I am always seeking medical attention. I hope that with the addition of wheat grass to my diet, my gastro-intestenol health will reap healthy benefits. I also enjoy brisk walks three times a day with my dogs daily. I wish that I will be writing about my health in a few months, as to how much more healthier I am with the addition of daily wheat grass. Wellness to you, and thank you.

Hi Nolder

You simply can’t ‘not be one to drink water’. EVERY element of your health is very badly affected if you do not drink at least 3 litres of water each day.

Tony Robbins Pure Energy green drink has kelp and wheat grass in it. This would not be a good mix since kelp is algae?

Janarah Hollingshead October 14, 2009 at 11:11 pm

I am very new to Wheat grass. Can I just clip the grass and put it in a smoothy using my vita mix? Do I get the same benefits from juicing?

Kevin Pardi October 1, 2009 at 9:01 pm

One of the main reasons I want to take wheat grass is to alkalize my system. I take wheat grass first thing in the morning, wait approx. 30 mins. and then have some green tea. I was wondering is drinking the green tea with it’s acid content going to negate the alkalizing affect the wheat grass has one me?
Also; I am wanting to harvest a second cutting of wheat grass for things like massaging into my scale, enema, and poultice, I am not able to grow a second batch, the wheat grass is sparse at best, yellowish green and never fully grows. Is there something I can do to get a second batch? I realize it’s not as potent the second time that’s why I want to use it externally. Thank you for your help.
