Alkaline Course Gives Long-Term Results
Recently I had the pleasure of interviewing Charlotte about her experience on the alkaline diet course. Having finished the course approximately eight months ago, I thought now would be a great time to speak to Charlotte and see how she is getting on now, and to prove that this course has lasting impact.
Charlotte reported that the course helped her to lose weight, get more energy, end depression and change the way she thought about food forever!

What made you want to start the course? Had you tried alkalising before?
After having my daughter Sophia, I’d put on about 2 stone since stopping breast feeding her and also due to comfort eating related to the post natal depression I was suffering with. I felt drained, tired all the time with no energy, I couldn’t sleep properly and felt unhappy. In January of this year, I decided that I had to do something about it and the only person who could do that was me. After surfing the internet I found lots of information on the Acid/ Alkaline diet and it seemed to be the ideal diet I’d been looking for. I bought a book on it and then found the Energise website. I often find it hard to keep up the momentum with new eating regimes so for me when I saw your 12-week alkaline course I knew I’d stumbled on the answer to all my problems.
What was your first impression when you got it?
I was a little over whelmed to begin with mainly by how I was going to cook for everyone in the family. My husband is not great with vegetables and there are just some things he will not eat. Also, my daughter often eats at different times to us, so I knew it would be a bit of a juggling act at first. However, the information was simple to read yet very informative. It gave you step by step, day by day information and I found that very comforting. A lot of the hard work had been taken away and all I really had to do was be organised, turn up and follow the schedule ! ?
What were your biggest health goals before you started (did you use the goal setting tool?)
Yes, I did use the goal setting tool and my biggest goals were to:
To lose weight
To sleep better
To have more energy
To feel happier & have more self confidence
To get fit
What was the most useful thing in the course?
The shopping lists, weekly menus & the recipes. These took all the hard work out of the course for me. I knew what I had to buy, what I was eating each day and I was able to learn new, yummy recipes to eat. Some of them my husband really enjoys too and they are meat-free!
Did you enjoy the recipes?
Yes, although I didn’t try all of them at the time but I have worked my way through the recipes since and have my favourites. I love the Alkaline Lasagne and the Alkaline Stir Fry. The power salad and lunchtime wraps are easy yet really tasty and some of the juices are just divine!
Did your tastes adapt/did you find it easy to transition?
This was the most amazing bit for me. After about 4-6 weeks I noticed that certain foods tasted horrible when before they had tasted delicious. Cadburys chocolate was one of them. Before this course I’d have happily eaten a small bar with no problem. Now I’d probably be sick. My taste buds changed and foods I’d never have eaten before like Ginger, I just loved. I adored the green juices, much to my surprise, and actually started craving them after a while. My body started asking for them if I’d not had one in a few days.
The transition was hard at times, but I think that is normal. I think you need some detox symptoms to understand what your body is having to do and why. It makes you much more aware about what you put into your body from that point on. You start to really understand you have a choice.
What benefits did you get from the course?
I lost 10 pounds in weight. I’d probably have lost more had I done the exercise programme but for me with a little toddler, something had to go at that time. I felt my mood lift and I began to sleep better too. My energy levels started to increase and although this has been the slowest change for me, as time has gone on I can see what foods make me tired and which ones have me bursting with energy.
Where are you at now?
Since doing the Alkaline course I went on to do a weeks’ juicing on Jason Vale’s 7 day juicing plan and lost another ½ stone. I have also started looking into raw foods too. I still juice and have smoothies regularly throughout the week. I try to eat as much salad based food as I can and I revert back to many of my favourite alkaline recipes from the course even now. I have come “off the wagon” so to speak a few times, but my body’s reaction is so much more specific now that I know it’s not worth it anymore. I have a dehydrator coming soon and hope to make next year a further positive change where mine and my family’s health is concerned. My daughter loves trying the juices& smoothies I make and I aim to keep her enthusiastic for as long as possible. I am now no longer depressed and I sleep like a log. I am getting myself fit again and overall feel great. In comparison to this time last year, I feel on top of the world.
