Hey guys!
As interest in our Chanson Alkaline Water Ionizers begins to heat up – I am getting the following question a lot!
If I buy an ionizer will I still need pH drops?
Here is my answer:
No. The role of pH drops is to increase the pH of your tap, or filtered, water to as close to pH 9.5 as possible. This is essentially all that pH drops do.
Alkaline water ionizers, such as the Chanson Miracle do the following:
- Raise or lower the pH to whatever you want between pH 3 and pH 11. You can set your machine to give you a constant source of pH 9.5 water – perfect pH, on tap, all day, every day. There are also heaps of uses for strong acid water too, so this is very very useful.
- Increase the Antioxidants in the Water: you know how important antioxidants are to prevent the oxidation of our cells – its why we are advised to eat our greens and other colourful foods – well, tap water (even with pH drops added) actually contributes to the oxidation of our body. To measure this we test for something called ORP in the water (see here for more explanation of ORP). The lower the ORP the better – but tap water has an ORP of +200 upwards, which means it is really quite oxidizing. Ionized, alkaline water from a Chanson has an ORP of between -300 and -800. This means it is really high in antioxidants. To give this some relativity, green tea has an ORP of around -125.
- Microclusters the water to make it more hydrating. Again, this might need a little explanation so click here to read that. Essentially this means that the water is up to 6 times more hydrating than tap water, even with pH drops added
Why I Still Recommend pH Drops
It might seem that my three bullet points above are critical of pH drops – but really, I still think pH drops are a fantastic product and a must-have. The benefits that pH drops give to filtered/tap water are still absolutely fantastic and the benefits far, far outweigh their cost – but ionized water is just hugely beneficial, more so than any other water on Earth*
I still own pH drops and take them everywhere with me. Whenever I am away from home and away from my Chanson Ionizer I use pH drops to get the incredible alkalising benefit they provide. But if I have access to an ionizer – the ionized water wins hands down because it is not only alkaline, but full of antioxidants and more hydrating too.
I hope this helps answer this question – and also the reverse of this question (do I need an ionizer if I have pH drops?!).

I drink and cook with natural SPRING WATER which is ph10. I obviously do not need to make it more alkaline but HOW do I get the minerals zinc and magnesium into my water?.
