Alkaline Diet Recipe #144: Chickpea and Avocado Mash

by Ross Bridgeford on November 23, 2011

We know that avocado is one of the most delicious alkaline foods. Robert Young calls it the PERFECT FOOD.

So how to make it even better? Combine it with chickpeas to get an extra hit of fibre and protein and voila – this snack is even more perfect than perfect!

I know that you guys often want me to give you an alkaline diet recipe that is a snack as well and this is a great one!

Enjoy with veggie sticks, dehydrated crackers, sprouted bread or with your salads for the perfect (filling) alkaline snack.

Chickpea and Avocado Mash

Serves 2-3

Ingredients

1 can chickpeas, drained or equivalent weight of organic dried chickpeas (garbanzos) cooked as per guidelines
1 ripe avocado
Himalayan salt & cracked black pepper
Drizzle of flax oil
Pinch of cumin
Optional: herbs of your choice – coriander, basil, parsley

Instructions

In a bowl, mix together chickpeas, avocado chunks, salt & pepper along with the cumin and the optional herbs. With a potato masher or large fork, mash together leaving some whole chickpeas.

Drizzle with the flax oil, add a dusting of paprika if you like it fancy and serve!

I also love to put this in my veggie & salad wraps – gives it more substance.

Hi Ross,
I came across your wonderful website and have tried few of the recipes. It’s been really helpful for me as my mom’s going through a whole change In her diet from normal to alkaline and completely raw. If you could share some okra recipes with me, it would be great. Typically we cook okra with potatoes. The cooking time is approximately 20 mins which is what the doctor has opposed (cooked food). So if u have any recipes on okra it would be wonderful.
Thanks.
