Hungry for Change Review: 5 Big Lessons

by Ross on March 28, 2012

hungry for change movieOn 21st March 2012 FoodMatters released their new health movie “Hungry for Change” to huge acclaim, with a free premiere that runs until 31st March (yes, you can still see the entire movie for FREE by clicking here).

In the 7 days since the premiere opened it has been watched over 200,000 times and has attracted HUGE attention.

It is a quite brilliant movie. In fact, I’d go as far as to say it is the most influential, motivating force for change I have ever seen.

Alkaline Diet Shopping List

by Ross on October 25, 2011

Alkaline Diet Shopping ListHi guys

Something that I am asked for over and over by beginners is a starter alkaline diet shopping list, those things you need to REALLY get going and start feeling the benefits right away.

I know how amazing it can be to feel that massive positive rush of energy and vitality and all-round positivity when you first start to alkalise and this shopping list will be a big help to you.

…because I know how frustrating it can be to start with so much motivation and enthusiasm only to be undone by not having the right tools in the box.

Gareth EdwardsHey everyone!

Each fortnight we’re putting the best alkaline diet questions we receive from you to our Alkaline Diet Expert, Dr Young trained blood analyst and highly qualified nutritionist – Gareth Edwards.

Gareth is right at the very top of his field, so these answers are absolutely the best you’ll find from arguably Britain’s most qualified expert in this area!

Sprouts

When I was studying to be a nutritionist, we were taught that the fundamental building block of any nutritional programme was to encourage our patients or clients to take a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement. It seems a little ironic that I now spend time encouraging patients and clients to stop taking these nutritional multi pills.

Ross Water BottleHi guys

A few months ago Andrew Bridgewater interviewed me for his Alkaline Diet learning course and I thought you guys would really appreciate hearing the interview.

It started out as Andrew interviewing me, but really we just ended up interviewing each other! We’ve got really complimentary skills in this area so this interview is a great educational piece if you’re starting out (or are a seasoned pro) with the alkaline diet:

Q&A With Gareth Edwards

Question One: Rosacea Relief & the Alkaline Diet

I would like to ask if the Alkaline Diet is helpful for Rosacea please. Specifically the type which causes burning face, night sweats, redness across cheeks, telangiectasia, dry skin and headache – not acne. Thank you Carolyn [age nearly 70]

alkaline herbal teaHi guys

Since I’ve been promoting hydration as the most important part of the alkaline diet I’ve had heaps of questions asking me whether herbal teas are alkaline, so I thought it would be a nice idea to blog about my favourite alkaline herbal teas!

Is Boiled Water Alkaline?

The first thing to address is this – is boiled water alkaline? The answer is yes! Water that is ‘naturally’ alkaline due to ionization or mineral content holds it’s pH wonderfully. You can use a water ionizer, alkaline water jug or other filter to make alkaline water, boil this and you’re set. If you’ve ionized the water, it also holds its ORP too.

Going Green for a Week – How to…

by Ross on July 6, 2011

Wow. What a week last week was. I had some pain in a tooth and …. I had to up the ante, with my diet and hydration programme. By the end of the week, I nearly turned bright green! Although I often have a salad or green smoothy for breakfast, I really seem to struggle with green juice without the avocado, almonds and olive oil that give my breakfast drink a thicker consistency and “richer” flavour.

Q&A With Gareth Edwards

Question One: Apple Cider Vinegar

I have long believed in apple cider vinegar every day to help with my health but I am now worried that it would be acidic! Given that lemons can be acidic but alkaline when we eat them is the same true for ACV?

Anti-Oxidants: The Quick Start Guide

by Ross on June 22, 2011

by Gareth Edwards

After some of my short book length articles of recent months, this week’s edition from the desk of a London nutritionist is all about …. cutting to the chase! So:

What’s oxidation?

The free oxidising radical theory of aging was developed in the 1950’s by American research scientist Denham Harman. Harman, now aged 95, was a keen researcher of the aging process. He ran two miles every day until he was 80 and maintained a lean frame through consuming only moderate amounts of alcohol, and presumably selective dietary choice.
