Alkaline Recipe #53 Fill-You-Up Salad!

by Ross on November 18, 2009

This is a super-salad. My meat-eating friends are forever challenging me to make a salad that fills me up, and doesn’t leave me hungry again in half an hour. They don’t believe it is possible. I promise you it is. And here is one of my creations.

I work out, I work hard and I need to be filled! I am a hungry young man! This salad doesn’t disappoint. It is tasty, filling, delicious and highly alkaline!

Big Alkaline Salad

I use a mix of different leaves, but you can just use whatever you’ve got handy (apart from iceberg, which I thoroughly dislike!). So here it is:

Alkaline Recipe #52 Delicious Refresher Juice!

by Ross on November 12, 2009

Refresher JuiceTried to think of a better name for this one, but thought…nah…why not - it does exactly what it says on the tin!

This juice combines the alkalising, detoxifying, antioxidant rich goodness of the sharp grapefruit and the delicious, sweeter carrot, the subtle refreshing celery and the zing of the ginger. It is one of my best combinations yet!

The Delicious Refresher Juice

Serves 2

Ingredients

2 Grapefruits
2 Celery Stalks
1 Carrot
1 Inch of Ginger
250ml Alkaline Water (or dilute to taste)

Breakfast is always a hard one, especially when you are first starting out. At first glance, you check out the list of acid/alkaline foods and think - WHAT AM I GOING TO HAVE FOR BREAKFAST?! BROCCOLI?!

Well, while I must admit I have had steamed broccoli for breakfast on more than a few occasions, you don’t have to. In fact, breakfast has become my favourite meal of the day because the more I’ve learned to alkalise and compromise (both in terms of living a perfect alkaline life and living a debauched, unhealthy life) the more I have learned to find ways to make breakfast so much more exciting than just cereal and toast.

This is one from the Energise engineroom! Bibi constantly gets rave reviews for her alkaline butternut & carrot soup and she wants to share it with the world!

It is alkaline, warm and filling - pretty much perfect as the dark nights draw in early and the cold starts to set in…

Alkaline Recipe #49 Aubergine ‘Pizza’

by Ross on October 27, 2009

aubergine alkaline pizzaThis week I’m bringing you one of my all-time favourites! I can’t recall where I first saw this idea but it has been adapted many, many times to make what I think is an awesome snack, side or main!

It is flavoursome, easy, quick and very very filling. You can make as much or as little as you like and I promise you wont be disappointed. The beauty of it is that it is one of those recipes that all you need is the aubergine (eggplant) and then you can top it with whatever the heck you’ve got in the fridge. It is a ‘fridge clearing’ recipe - you can use it to use up the last bits and pieces of whatever you’ve got before you next go shopping!

coriander alkaline recipe imageWith the winter looming over us and shops shockingly setting up for Christmas already, we need some summer sun back in our lives! This cheery collection of coriander, cucumber, capsicums, celery, carrot and lots of other c’s is just such a nice, bright, crisp and flavour-ful dish. I absolutely love it and it goes really, really well with a simple dressing of lemon juice and olive or avocado oil.

Delicious, highly alkalising, raw, crisp and an easy way to get a big hit of veggies.

Alkaline Diet Recipe #46: A Pint of Real Kale

by Ross on October 15, 2009

alkaline acid kaleWorst. Pun. Ever. Sorry for that. The silver lining to that awfully grey cloud is that this is an awesome recipe. Not only is it ridiculously tasty and quick to make, but it is also a 100% highly alkalising salad.

I love the contrast in flavour and texture that the kale provides against the soft, sweet tomatoes.

A Pint of Real Kale

Serves 2

Ingredients

1 Big bunch of Kale
2 Carrots
2 Handfuls of cherry/baby plum tomatoes
1 Lemon, juiced
½ Cup soaked pine nuts
¼ Cup of sesame seeds
1 Medium red onion
Raw black olives
1/4 Cup of Olive/Avocado oil or Udo’s Choice
A pinch of Himalayan Salt
A Few dashes of Bragg Liquid Aminos or pHlavor
A Pinch of black pepper

alkaline couscousThis week, the beautifully named ‘colon week’ I’m bringing you a high-fibre recipe to help cleanse your body - but it is also a delicious, delicious meal! Plus, as ever (due to the fact that I make it myself) it is really simple and quick - just the way I like my recipes to be!

Couscous with Tomatoes, Basil and Lentils

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 350ml of fresh vegetable juice (tomato, cucumber, spinach etc - OR you can use V8 or a shop bought veggie juice in this instance)
  • 350ml of alkaline/filtered water
  • 3 cloves of garlic finely chopped

Alkaline Recipe #44 Omega Muesli

by Ross on October 1, 2009

Omega Muesli Alkaline Recipe ImageStrictly speaking, this probably comes under the ‘transitional’ banner - but I will have this for brekkie perhaps once a week. It is a great, filling home-made muesli that is full of Essential Fatty Acids and is therefore great for your body, your skin in particular.

You can have it with whatever type of non-dairy milk you prefer, and I actually have it with very little milk at all. In fact, sometimes I have even been known to have it with a little soy yoghurt and half an apple as a weekend treat. Almond milk is probably the nicest with this but is obviously a little less accessible.

Alkaline Recipe #41 Ratatouille!

by Ross on September 1, 2009

aubergineThis week I’m blogging and newsletter writing from Greece! I know! Jet-setting all over the place at the moment!

OK - so as I’m in Greece and I thought I’d whip out a nice Greek alkaline recipe! This recipe is not 100% alkaline because the ingredients are ‘cooked’ a little, but I’ve tweaked the traditional recipe to make it more raw and more alkaline.

Of course, serve with a big green salad and you’re rocking!
