Getting started is often the hardest part. Maybe you’ve had a few of my emails, read a few of my alkaline diet resources, picked up a copy of the pH Miracle – but you don’t know where to start!
I know how overwhelming it can seem at first, and even when you feel like you’re ready to get started, there can be a few really easy-to-make mistakes that make living the alkaline diet way more difficult than it needs to be.

Hey everyone
I recently received an email question that I get quite frequently and thought it would be a good idea to share it! It is on the subject of the alkaline diet and muscle growth.

Hi Ross
How are you? I’ve been using your alkaline Dr Young products and eating as much alkaline food as I can and have noticed good improvements in my energy levels in the past few weeks. I’m sleeping better and my skin has never been so clear. I have bought the 12 week alkaline diet course but am waiting until I go back to London to get it underway.

This was an interesting question and one I was keen to get stuck into. There are obvious synergies between the alkaline diet and the raw food approach – and I am definitely an advocate of eating at least 40-50% raw each day. I just feel more vibrant when I do eat more raw foods than cooked!
I actually had dinner with a good friend last night and he was a raw food preparation genius! He had his spiral slicer, dehydrator, juicer, mandolin and all sorts going and he had whipped up what was the most colourful, delicious and nutrient packed salad I had ever seen – within about 5 minutes! The spiralized beetroot and courgette were just awesome!

The Alkaline Diet for Weight Loss
Article by Gareth Edwards
Last week I went to a business breakfast. This is unusual for me, but the subject of the debate “Should we tax foods that make people obese?”
grabbed my attention. To observe Dr. Ian Richardson (a government advisor on obesity) and Richard Powell (a spokesman for Coca-Cola) “debating” the issue was interesting and, to some extent enlightening.

This week Gareth Edwards, our Alkaline Diet Expert and highly qualified nutritionist, highlights ways how you can achieve better health and a healthy weight by following a diet, exercise and hydration regime based on alkalising – permanently!
The Magic Key to Weight Loss and Increased Health
I’ve been alkalising and …… I’ve put on weight. This true statement raises several interesting points, but fortunately is not the case for the majority of clients who seek my advice, wanting to lose weight. It is fairly rare that somebody comes to see me, with weight loss being their only health goal. In reality excess weight is usually associated with other health challenges of fatigue, elevated markers of risk for cardio-vascular disease (e.g. cholesterol) or other concerns.

From running energiseforlife.com I get dozens of emails every day from people who have questions about the alkaline diet. There are so many people out there who are really excited about starting on a path to acid alkaline balance but who have a reason (sometimes called an ‘excuse’) not to get started. And this is such a shame because these reasons are often founded on shoddy science, misconceptions and lies from the naysayers.
I’ve been studying and working in this area for long enough now to have an extremely thorough understanding of the principles, science and practical application of the acid/alkaline diet and so here it is –

Q&A With Gareth Edwards
Question One: Blood Sugar
Dr Young Says that sugar is bad for the body, but why is it we have blood sugar? Dr Young also says hormones are acidic waste products of the body but don’t we also need them. Your thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Kepow! Take that….. Historically we’ve had to rely on fictional characters such as Popeye, Doc Broc and (maybe) the Jolly Green Giant to help us believe that the path to increased physical endurance might have more to do with the vegetable patch than a steak. Increasingly though, real life athletes are starting to wake up to the fact endless bowels of pasta, protein powders or chicken may not be helping them get the results that they are after.
