I’m a big fan of the soba noodle. They’re not super-alkaline, but to have as part of your 20% acid-forming foods on your plate these are SO much better than straight pasta.
Firstly, they’re not made from durum wheat (like normal high-GI pasta) they’re made from buckwheat, which is far closer to the neutral end of the acid/alkaline scale.
Because of this they’re low GI, high in protein and high in fibre, making you feel satiated for longer and less likely to snack.
Combined with fresh, raw pesto, uncooked oil and pine nuts, this meal is a great transition recipe.

These wraps are GENIUS! People often tell me how hard it is to find sprouted wraps in the UK (in the USA you can find them at Alvarado Street Bakery – they might even ship to the UK…) so these wraps are the perfect, alkaline answer!
They are perfect for a healthy lunch if you are on the go or a quick alkaline snack in between.
I really like normal wraps, but then thought – I also love San Choy Bow…hmmm…I have an idea here – how great and more alkaline it would be if you swapped out the bread wraps with something more alkaline and healthy … lettuce of course!

This is a delicious and alkaline recipe using tofu and spinach as the main ingredients. It has got a lovely texture and an interesting flavour given by the variety of spices used in this recipe.
Tofu is a great alternative to meat and contains a low amount of calories. It also contains large amounts of iron and little fat. Depending on the coagulant used in manufacturing, the tofu may also be high in magnesium and/or calcium.
Spinach as we know is highly alkalising and has a high nutritional value. It is extremely rich in antioxidants and is a rich source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Mangenese, Zink and Iron, just to name a few.

This is a very light and alkalising recipe ideal for these warmer days using charred artichokes as the core ingredient. The sharp citrus dressing goes very well with them.
I have always wanted to find more recipes using artichokes, as they are one of these types of vegetables which are often underused, as the general perception seems to be that they are hard to prepare. This is an easy to follow recipe, which brings out the delicious taste of this healthy vegetable.

It is nice to have an alkaline pasta dish for a change, as this recipe contains spelt pasta, which are fine to be included into an alkaline based diet. The other main ingredients are broccoli and almonds, which are both highly alkaline and tasty too!
This dish is also really easy and quick to prepare, which makes this another great recipe to cook throughout the week when there is limited time to spend in the kitchen.
Spelt is one of the oldest cultivated grains. It is high in fibre, has a higher content of protein and vitamins than wheat and although not gluten free, Spelt can be tolerated by some people with wheat allergies.

Fennel with Brown Basmati Rice is one of my favourite quick alkaline recipes, which is so simple to make and perfect for cooking during the week. The whole recipe does not only take below half an hour to prepare, but also tastes delicious and is healthy too!
Fennel has a slight anis taste and contains a myriad of health benefits. It has got unique phytonutrients with antioxidants and gives immune support. It is rich in folate, fiber, potassium and Vitamin C which are beneficial for cardiovascular and colon health.

This week’s alkaline recipe features another delicious soup, which is packed with different vegetables and will definitely keep you warm in these still pretty cold temperatures.
This pistou soup is mostly associated with the Provencal dish Soupe au Pistou or the minestrone al pesto from Italy. Traditionally pistou is made with parmesan cheese, which we will leave out, as it is acidifying.
The usual ingredients used are green beans, white beans, potatoes and tomatoes. This particular recipe contains these plus some other healthy and alkaline vegetables like courgettes, onions, celery and carrots, which are all packed with nutrients and are important for good health.

This alkaline and spicy aubergine and chick pea stew can be found all over the Mediterranean, but is particularly popular in the Lebanon.
As most of the Mediterranean dishes this stew is packed with a range of spices, which gives it its different flavours and gets your taste buds tingling.
Apart from being extremely delicious it is also very healthy and alkaline, as aubergines and chick peas are packed with nutrients, which are important for good health. Aubergines are a good source of folic acid and potassium and also help the formation of free radicals. Chick peas contain high levels of protein, zinc and folate.

This highly alkaline and delicious chicory and chard vegetable platter contains an unusual combination of ingredients, which give this flavoursome vegetable dish an interesting twist.
This crunchy and tasty dish also contains other delicious and healthy ingredients like shallots, garlic, rucola and grapefruit, which is one of the few alkalising fruits.
All of the vegetables used here are highly nutritious and particularly the greens in here are high in Vitamin A, K and C and rich in dietary fiber, minerals and protein.
I hope you enjoy this healthy, alkaline and flavoursome vegetable platter as much as I do!

This is a fabulous and highly alkalising recipe using delicious spring greens and chilli as the main ingredients.
Spring greens are one of these vegetables which are often left out in the kitchen, as a lot of us do not really know what to do with them. This is a real shame as they are packed with nutrients, are highly alkalising and are very versatile vegetables to cook with. You can steam, fry or even mash them.
They are nutritious and particularly rich in folic acid, Vitamin C and dietary fibre, which makes them very healthy and alkalising.

This sweet potato soup recipe has been created by the famous British chef Antony Worrall Thompson. Callum, one of the Energise directors, forwarded this recipe to me and it is truly delicious and healthy too.
As we are experiencing arctic temperatures in the UK at the moment, a soup is the perfect type of food to warm you up and provide you with all the nutrients your body needs. The main ingredient here are sweet potatoes, which are not strictly alkaline and should be eaten in moderation. They are however a root vegetable which are currently in season and are perfect for using in soups. Just make sure that they are fresh and do not have any fungal spots when you buy them.
