Alkaline Salad WrapsThese delicious and light avocado and tomato wraps are a great alternative to your traditional salads.

They are perfect for a healthy lunch if you are on the go or a quick alkaline snack in between.

I really like tortilla wraps, however thought how great and more alkaline it would be if you could replace actual wraps with something more alkaline and healthy … that’s when salad leaves came to my mind!

I hope you enjoy these wraps as much as I do!

Lamb Lettuce Alkaline Salad with Walnuts and AvocadoI have just got back from a holiday to Corsica and discovered a delicious salad there, which contains my favourite type of salad which is lamb’s lettuce, a highly alkalising avocado (see whfoods info on avocado here – fantastico) and a handful of crunchy walnuts.

Lamb’s lettuce is extremely healthy and has many nutrients, including three times as much vitamin C as lettuce, beta-carotene, B6, B9, vitamin E, and omega-3 fatty acids. You will already know how nutritious and alkaline avocados are, as they are very rich in potassium, B vitamins, vitamin E and K. Avocados are also known to promote healthy skin and hair. Some people use them for facial masks, however they are most beneficial when eaten.

Soba Noodles with Pesto SauceThis is another great alkaline recipe using soba noodles and pesto sauce, which does not only taste delicious but is also very quick and easy to prepare.

Soba noodles originate from Japan and are a healthier alternative to other pasta types made from buckwheat flour. Like many Japanese noodles, soba noodles are often served drained and chilled in the summer, and hot in the winter.

The pesto is made with fresh herbs and pine nuts, which give the soba noodles a lovely flavour.

Enjoy!

Alkaline Recipe #72: Mixed Sprouts Salad

by Ross on April 27, 2010

Mixed Sprouts SaladThis is a really healthy and alkaline salad using a variety of sprouts.

Sprouts are super healthy and are highly alkalising foods. They are extremely rich in digestible energy, bioavailable vitamins, minerals, amino acids, proteins, beneficial enzymes and phytochemicals.

I absolutely love eating sprouts as they are so versatile and I try to integrate them into lots of different dishes like stir fries, salads, wraps, etc.

This is a great salad, as it is easy and quick to make and very tasty!

Kohlrabi Salad with Vegetable DressingNow that the temperatures are steadily rising and the sun shows itelf more often, I love to eat more healthy salads.

I always look out for ways of creating different salads to keep it interesting and whilst doing this, I have come across this recipe using Kohlrabi and a Vegetable Dressing, which I think is delicious. I have eaten this salad in Germany where I come from and where Kohlrabi is widely used.

A Kohlrabi looks a bit like an alien life form, but has been deliberately developed in Northern Europe during the 16th Century. It has a mild flavour and has the ability to absorb the flavour of other ingredients in a meal.

Q&A With Gareth Edwards

Question One: How do H.R.T (Hormone Replacement Therapy) patches affect the body?

I have recently started the new alkalising diet and can’t find anything about H.R.T. patches. How do these affect the body? What would replace them? Thank you. Joanna.

Courgettes with Moroccan SpicesThis is another one of my favourite and quick dishes from North Africa using courgettes and a variety of Moroccan spices.

The combination of garlic and onion with chilli, paprika and cumin gives the courgettes a deliciously spicy flavour.

Courgettes, the main stars of this dish, do not only taste good but are also extremely healthy as they are packed with folate, potassium, vitamin A and manganese.
